I've now got an issue 54 in the local Tenpin and someone selling The Big issue outside Lloyds Bank. I had a quick bash on Super duper multi we've changed the graphics slightly Bullseye.
£5 cash for the super game? Lots of lol. What is this? Quizzing section 16 style? How about super mega bullseye? You can stake £5 over 20 dart boards. Super darts. £100 a play. Anyone tempted? Smashing game. Great way to take on a 70% house advantage. Temptedings? Nah.
I played the normal game for 50p and won a £1. Nothing new there then. A quick look at DOND no questions for a record £6 win off a quid.
Then I played The Grid. The first question was
i) In which soap was Sue Osmond a character.
A) Eastenders B) Brookside C) Neighbours
Well that was easy, I'd never heard of her, so it had to be Brookside. Nope. Actually it sounds kind of Australian, so Neighbours. Game Over.
Feckin' soaps. I mean I could have told you Don Brennan was in Coronation Street, but you need to swallow a tub of fluoxetine after watching Eastenders just to stop yourself slicing your wrists off. Who watches Eastenders? Yeah 15 million bloomin' people. They must be mad. Sue Osmond. Never heard of her, ask me what 1+1 is next time please. The whole Les Dennis, pointless coloured squares, have to get 4 things on the end game to get a quid thing, bankrupt thing, crap soapy questions thing thing just meant this went on to the never again list.
Then I played Won in 60 seconds which seemed a much more fun concept. Kind of reminiscent of Weakest Link.
You need to get 5 (varies?) true/false answers in a row (within 60 seconds) to progress to the cash round. You get a time bonus. Then I had to get 7 T/F in a row to get to 50p.
What was the killer question? I got 6 then it was.........hold on.
Hold on a tick.
One moment.
Nah it has gone. It was one of those whereby you think the answer is almost definitely one thing, maybe, just maybe that and definitely not that. Not a trick question, but a question that test you on errrr.....well look I lost anyway. Then I played Skill Ball Bingo (WHY?!??!). I used to win on the standalones, Itbox - never.
That was that.

I know Gilliver very well!!!wires74 wrote:properpro did u ever bump into GILLIVER on your travels ?
I last bumped into Alan about eighteen months ago. He was 'hale and hearty' despite a very serious health scare. I hope this is still the case.
He said he was less involved with the SWP circuit, the proliferation of It Boxes, Gamesnets etc. had negated his amazing 'search and find' abilities.
As Quiz Master has alluded, most pro players north of London would know of/have met Gilliver, a true character!
Money goes in, Gilliver took a lot of players to take it out.

i have seen three new shitboxes, none of which has pimp my soup.
the purist in me says that this is good but the realist in me says that, while soup is vulgar, at least it is a word game and therefore a genuine SKILL game (albeit one which allows a lot of irresponsible words ).
but at the same time; pimp my soup is so bloody easy that you might as well pretend that a game of hungry hungry hippos in granny's sitting room is an African safari.

nobody ever wins on those things.

I played my first three 54s yesterday and now I come to think of it DoW was present on all three, although I didn't play it.Properpro wrote:I've seen a few 54's now, this one you snapped is a 'rogue'. I'd have to share properpro's view that members of this forum are being unduly mealy-mouthed about 54. On first play, it seems to me to be the best update of the IB we've had in a long while. Lots of new product, and most of it quiz related (compare e.g. to issue 53 which featured a mere three new games, none of them quiz related). No regrettable departures and one or two promising new additions. The increase in number of games is to be warmly welcomed as well. Bravo ItBox - maybe they've been reading these forums.
On my experience yesterday each Crossword Quiz seems to have a very ripe £5 sitting in the bank so those who are so inclined can no doubt go haring around visiting scores of IBs and hoovering up those easy wins. Generally I thought CQ had the look of being 'too simple' in today's market; I reckon it could be a consistent payer although the £5 JP won't be enough to entice the real boys, I suspect.
As properpro says, at least one other game looks promising. I took £5 and £6 from it within about three goes on two of the three IBs I played yesterday. I shan't reveal it just to be annoying, but it seems pretty obvious to me.
On a Fantasy Football update, I've found another pub with a full scoreboard and one solitary INCA score topping the board - this one a 96. Also evidence of good DMAC scores around the place. After more playing than I'd ideally have liked I'm forced to admit my inability to recognise pictures of obscure Premiership squad members, plus a weakness at holding full concentration throughout the 'season' is going to mean I'm unlikely to be advancing from the low 90s on this. Infuriating that others seem to be able to do this at will.

Word Up has been missing from all 7 Issue 54s I have seen. Not sure about Deals on Wheels.Properpro wrote:I've seen a few 54's now, this one you snapped is a 'rogue'. something went wrong with my old ID
her name was Sue Osman. She owned the Kaff and was married to Ali the Turk (hence the name). Baby died of cot death. We're talking 20+ years ago when it was actually watchableish.Streakypoos wrote: Then I played The Grid. The first question was

played the bullseye on £5/play - incredibly you cant collect ur first cash amount, after every dart there is a question and you must do 2 questions before you can collect anything! Also I might add these are 4 option questions not the usual easy starters.
the star prize is advertised before you press gamble so you can choose wisely, had £4 from the darts and it offered £9 on the star prize which was duley went for and got...

You may be misremembering or you may have been the victim of a small typo - Sue OsMAN was an early character in Eastenders, as any fule kno:Streakypoos wrote:Then I played The Grid. The first question was

Mind you, she actually had a pretty good time of things when compared to most Eastenders characters:
"After the tragic death of her baby and her husband's infidelity, Sue 'lost the plot', and was subsequently locked away in an insane asylum in 1989."

Sad I know, but I've played 10 now and it's not been on any of themQuizMaster wrote:Soup is still on the menu, which is a nice one.
Don't see anyone complaining too loudly. Anyway I am pretty positive about at least one of the new games having taken a decent prize today. It's easy to spot the non players on this forum - they're the ones who complain that they can't win.
