Quiz Master - the ultimate Hall of Fame tribute

Post by Nil Satis »

... not just being the wrong answer to a question but having a whole new game named after you must be the ultimate accolade (although the geriatrics amongst us will realise that this in fact closes a circle - QuizMaster being the name of one of the very earliest quiz machine games).

The new game is on the Paragons and first impressions are that it's not bad at all. The gameplay is very much straight Q&A, with 6 rounds of (I think) 5 questions for a £10 JP, with any intermediate prizes kept by the player (although I await to see whether the £10 JP is replaced by a much lower JP after a certain level of wins). The look and feel will be very familiar for those who played the short-lived GWHL game from around a year ago, which I think was called The Last Question - the one where you had to answer the previous question. The new Quiz Master game has an identical design to that, even down to the bonus round being represented by four spinning 'Mastermind' style chairs.

The two new features are (a) the Next Game Bonus is only one of the four options for the in-game bonus, rather than something you get after every game and (b) there is now a facility to 'buy' one or more Continues for 10p, i.e. after getting an answer wrong you are offered the option to pay 10p and have another go. I suspect this only happens before you have won a prize but it will be interesting to see if this idea is picked up by any of the other games.

The questions are taken from the other Paragon games, which means you do still where possible have to try to avoid the utterly lazy Entertainment/TV & Films sets (still the most hopeless set of quiz questions I have ever seen) but you are given one Change Category option so there is a chance to do that once per game.

Somebody told me about this but as I hadn't seen one, I was waiting for it to crop up on here.

So it's official then - I am a legend.

Maybe they'll make a word game called 'Istenem' next. I seriously doubt it though.
Stupid punters. Telly all the week, screw the wife Saturday

It goes to £1 jp. There was a good reason why TLQ didn't last.

Confessions of a recovering quizaholic:

Buy coffee. (£1.09p)
Put £1 in machine.
Lose on QUIZMASTER round 3.
Get close to 'winning' £1 on round 4.
Offered another go for 10p.
Take offer.
Get one normal question and then Dido spoiler.
Lose.
40p left in machine.
8p change in pocket.
Sheepishly leave pub pissed off at 40p in machine.
Go to cashpoint.
Withdraw £10.
Buy half in pub across road.
Win £11 in pub across road on BAM/MOTD.
Go to butchers and buy Barnsley chop.
Decide 10p extra play on QUIZMASTER is a con.
Eat chop with cheap wine.
Post on FMC.

Played this for the first time today. Looks a decent enough addition to the stable of Paragon titles. Million Pound Drop is also on the most up to date Paragon in my manor, but maybe we've discussed that. Anyway, again a decent enough title.
