being immoderate
I too had a post removed some time ago not for anything criminal but the moderator who shall remain nameless had a vested interest in my post and therefore didnt want it getting out to the forum members.
shouldnt moderators be impartial and allow anything through that is not libellous or criminal?
how long will it be before this post is removed?
counting...................

Mmmmm. It does make one wonder. Would any of the moderators care to give us any sort of reason why a thread that opens up an interesting debate should be pulled??Properpro wrote:Monopoly has always been fixed and has always been acknowledged as such by those that know on this forum, but I'm intrigued, scandal in the deep and murky bowels of FC, surely not!!
When I joined this website I didn't expect it to be subject to such blatant censorship.
The only issue I can think of that seems plausible is that all the game companies are no doubt very nervous of any discussion that implies that their games are in any way fixed or are not true skill games, given the background of the ongoing HMRC deliberations. One of their representatives who reads these pages - and I don't see any harm in such 'lurkers' - might therefore have requested the thread be removed.
However it does seem a bit heavy handed to pull a thread from here - surely it's pushing the bounds of plausibility that a passing HMRC representative might suddenly decide a game like Monopoly is X or Y on the basis of reading someone's opinion on here?
Obviously something else more serious (libellous, offering illegal downloads etc) might have been posted after the last time each of us looked at the thread in question but, again, wouldn't a sensible response have been to remove just that post?
In any case, surely any regular/serious player of SWPs recognises Monopoly for exactly what it is (a beautiful toy but no more), and treats it accordingly?

Interesting hypothesis. Monopoly HP is blatantly rigged (indeed it is skill in theory only) and one of the worst SWPs ever made.Nil Satis wrote:The only issue I can think of that seems plausible is that all the game companies are no doubt very nervous of any discussion that implies that their games are in any way fixed or are not true skill games, given the background of the ongoing HMRC deliberations. its a continual problem.Who would moderate a site they had no interest in and through ignorance could let something through that was potentially dodgy versus moderators who could share incoming information for mutual benefit preventing the masses from benefiting.
If somebody was about to publish info that I knew would lead to a nosedive in my earnings and the removal of a game what would I do?
glad Im not a moderator.

Hi Gents,
I can confirm that the reason the thread was removed was in no way down to the discussion as to whether the game was fixed or not, but as to the, how shall we say, 'availability' of the game outside of it's intended environment.
I think I can safely say on behalf of all mods, we would never censor debate about 'gameplay'.
Happy to answer further questions.

the only valid reason for removal in this case would have been possible discussion of possible grey market copies of the program.
achtung! dis vill not be tolerated.
twas not i who shot cock robin though.
with regards to what else can trigger a purge:
1)ridiculous rowdy rabble rousing and blatant trolling will usually gain the attention of our oppressive regime ,i will usually place a very large monty python style boot firmly upon the temple of said perp ,response times can vary from sub 1 minute panic deletions to biannual partial editations.
2)tooling is still not officially allowed although we have had to rethink our strategy on mass deletion as it seems that over 93 % of our members are partaking in this (now socially acceptable) pastime. i'm certainly not accusing any welsh liverpool supporters or anybody over the height of 6 foot 7.99999999 inches who comes from lewisham though.
3) porn will get deleted as soon as we have all watched it a couple of times
4) if a top boy complains even just a little incey bit about a current method being boasted about on the public forum we will stick our tongues right up his ringpiece and bow to his every whim in the vain hope that one day in the distant future he will send us joyous news of a piss poor final day rip or emptier for a machine that's got bob hope of having more than 2 quid in.
5) spam maybe to eric idles taste, but we usually jettison it here.
6)repeat posts get the bullet
7) i grow weary of deleting a clutch of new word soup threads every morning and will be passing the baton to another moderator to take care of this issue shortly.
8 ) ****DELETED*******

on a serious note i have rarely profitted from information aquired in my position here and certainly never as a reward for deleting something.... umm ......er.. not much anyway.

When deleting a thread do you move it to a private forum "Moderator Bin" rather than actually deleting it?
This would mean:
1) This then lets the other moderators share in the moneyspinning strategy removed.
2) And they can also see the reasons for the deletion (an "audit trail" of what had been posted), and if the consensus was deletion was heavy handed, the thread could be restored.
For 1 alone, I would expect this to happen (and presumably the shady "fruitchat admin geezer" knocks up private forums for fun for top dogs to share their money spinners (?) )

there is a private room for moderators only, it's basically where we argue amongst ourselves about who gets the highest salary for moderating here, deletions and reasonning are discussed also.posters are usually informed about deletions and reasons.
sometimes we discuss who we should single out for deletion or possible banning, usually we will track down peoples whereabouts through the i.p addresses and then the mysterious emperor admin will send out a team to pull the chap in for interrogation .if it is deemed that he poses no threat to the inner sanctum of professional play his memory is then wiped and he will be released ,i'm not permitted to discuss what happens to a member deemed to be a threat.
only one man has seen the face of admin and lived ,he developed a perculiar habit of playing reelkings out and blooping all the time ,it is rumoured that emperor admin is horribly disfigured ,this may have been started to strike fear into the hearts of our sworn ememies over at jackpotty though.

We do try and discuss things between ourselves, but sometimes only one of us is on-line etc, so things happen as and when they need to most times. We don't hoard deleted threads however, although the content may be discussed, to enable us to make a decision on whether the topic in question should remain / be binned.
I cannot think of one time where I have benefitted monetarily (or otherwise, outside of the 'job role') from being a mod.

well done fellow mods. sensible answers with wit and acuity. i'd only be repeating what Lugsy and Matt have said about the mod forum. (full of cobwebs and exasperation at certain AWP posters who for whatever reason have caused fruitchat to descend into fw00tchat). the VIP forum does have occasional info which has potential for modest returns whether regarding AWP or SWP, although any sort of tooling is condemned. if a machine has an engineering/hardware fault which can be exploited, you can make your own judgement call. if through skill and knowledge you can gain an edge, good luck, go for it but don't be emptying anything.
that said, mainly what i do as a mod is splitting topics which have lost focus, changing cunts into coots and showing up in green at the bottom.

nobody ever wins on those things.
