i'd recommend MIND which is a very worthy charity.
as for the tournaments i'd imagine the template is the same as when they used to have S&D, i won that one month with about 2500 and they sent me a cheque for a ton.
In some gambling act under the heading "Amusement machine licence duty" an exemption is
"9.1.3 Prize video (SWP) machines
SWP machines with a cost per play of 50p or less to play once."

Well the way it works is that there are levels of licences depending on the payout and price per play of machine. A 50p quiz machine means that places that do not have licences of any type can have them.

And don't forget that when Who Wants To Be A Millionaire first launched as a JPM standalone SWP, there was a right ol' mixture of 50p and £1 stake machines in pubs everywhere.
This machine may at times offer a choice where the player has every chance of bankruptcy
