Hey, they have a picture of the Rocket in the gallery, where I was this afternoon to eke out a few quid before my train.

how about charging 99p for a game with a penny being donated to charity each go?

i'd recommend MIND which is a very worthy charity.

as for the tournaments i'd imagine the template is the same as when they used to have S&D, i won that one month with about 2500 and they sent me a cheque for a ton.
In some gambling act under the heading "Amusement machine licence duty" an exemption is

"9.1.3 Prize video (SWP) machines
SWP machines with a cost per play of 50p or less to play once."

They were probably for places which already had a licence (e.g. a fruit machine licence)

Well the way it works is that there are levels of licences depending on the payout and price per play of machine. A 50p quiz machine means that places that do not have licences of any type can have them.

And don't forget that when Who Wants To Be A Millionaire first launched as a JPM standalone SWP, there was a right ol' mixture of 50p and £1 stake machines in pubs everywhere.
This machine may at times offer a choice where the player has every chance of bankruptcy
