many words can be beautiful regardless of any perceived value in points on word games. after all these years, i still get exited by FELLATIO.
(i think he was a character in the merchant of venice.)
and SQUELCH is a great word too.
i like BOTTOMRIES, wasn't quite sure of the meaning though. thought it was something to do with advances for pirates; close but no banana
ops:. good spot Grecian. and any 16 is a notable achievement, i hope Bob is still recording the words for Ernest's site.

nobody ever wins on those things.
The same session produced MARKETEERS. It was a special capitalism-themed effort, appropriate in a pub where a coke was £3.grecian wrote:Can I just point out that, when watching GGDR play Word Up recently, I suggested to him the word BOTTOMRIES?
I found out yesterday that Word Soup doesn't allow QUARTERHORSES. And, in fairness, neither would any dictionary in the land.

I've not been to this one but it might be worth a visit just to pay homage to such fine Word Uppery. Not worth a visit, one assumes, is the pub a few doors along:jonesey wrote:Ship Anson, Portsmouth

Can anyone find a pub on Beer in the Evening with a lower rating than 0.5/10?

An old school pal of mine has just taken over the management of Britain's worst (open) pub, the Slug and Lettuce, Guildford. (I've been in there a few times and it's not nearly *that* bad.)
