Ha did you take the caveman capers money as well- I had crapped out on $15 4 times the week before going for top for the sake of it and when went back in last week and it was gone- then whole unit replaced by a paragon which is why I probably didn't see your score.

Can I just point out that, when watching GGDR play Word Up recently, I suggested to him the word BOTTOMRIES? Not a brilliant scorer, but a great word I think you'll agree. (Apart from that, GGDR will confirm I'm as much use as a chocolate teapot when playing WU.)

many words can be beautiful regardless of any perceived value in points on word games. after all these years, i still get exited by FELLATIO.

(i think he was a character in the merchant of venice.)
and SQUELCH is a great word too.

i like BOTTOMRIES, wasn't quite sure of the meaning though. thought it was something to do with advances for pirates; close but no banana

The same session produced MARKETEERS. It was a special capitalism-themed effort, appropriate in a pub where a coke was £3.

I found out yesterday that Word Soup doesn't allow QUARTERHORSES. And, in fairness, neither would any dictionary in the land.

Enjoyed a bit of QUIZZIFICATION (Istenem: I'm sorry) this lunchtime, my most longest and highest scoringest word ever. Then all the vowels disappeared, otherwise my clearance PB would have been somewhat revised.

In reply to Istenem - no offence, but FELLATIO sucks ! CUNNILINGUS (Ship Anson, Portsmouth) is much more satisfactory - in terms of long term rewards (most obviously, of using difficult letters).

An old school pal of mine has just taken over the management of Britain's worst (open) pub, the Slug and Lettuce, Guildford. (I've been in there a few times and it's not nearly *that* bad.)
