Those bookie FOBT machines are horrible. My thoughts on the matter can be found at:

http://beatthecasinos.blogspot.com/2007 ... -fobt.html and http://beatthecasinos.blogspot.com/2007 ... rvice.html

But there is an alternative to playing them (other than just stopping cold turkey, or going to a REAL casino): http://beatthecasinos.blogspot.com/2008 ... lette.html

Hopefully these links will be useful for you - any feedback happily received.

PS: If you're into slots I now have http://beattheslots.blogspot.com up and running too - it's just about slots, nothing else.

Get this. went to the bookies and played the roulette. the sequence was as follows:
red came in 18 times on the trot followed by 0, my money was on black only, i then decided to play the numbers instead of the outsides. had money on all numbers except 1,8,16,30,32 and 36. this sequence followed: 8 came in twice then 36 and then number 1 four times. i didnt win a penny and in 25 spins and £253 later i walked out in a huff (thats a new type of coat). even the branch manager who i know couldnt believe what he saw and gave me a number to ring to complain to william hill. these things are so rigged its a joke. lets all set up shops selling crack cocaine and handing out leaflets about drug abuse.
you wont find me playing again!!!!

at least you've learnt your lesson mate, some people given the same circumstances would carry on regardless.

Astronomically unlucky. Or so it would seem.

The machine had probably just streaked to someone placing bets on singles. They probably got a couple of steals, then the reflex tipped big time. It's very harsh when it happens. That's what happens when you design a game that naturally pays around 97.5%, but 'needs' to pay out at 82% to meet targets.

FOBTs are a licence to operate without morals. Read on the other posters anology with class A drugs. Might as well eh? Might as well.......

Without wanting to sound patronising, hope you've learned a lesson and never play that filth ever again.

Hehe, another one of these things that should only happen once in a blue moon that happens every day on FOBTs. Why aren't i surprised...

To be honest, with the 10,000s (source: Me) of people who play these machines - and the amount of money that goes through them and the frequency they are paid - I'm surprised other people haven't joined this forum solely to moan an unbelievable streak of luck.

Nae joy mate though. That's a bastard. Still, if it's taught you never to play them again then at least the money went somewhere.

p.s. if you're friendly with the manager, did you ask him if the machine had paid out any big wins recently?

I think the trial is due up soon for a decision by the government.

Look at this:

http://investors.ladbrokesplc.com/downl ... vfinal.pdf

The amount of money being made by the FOBT's no chance of a revoke.

Easter no live racing ect yet the bookies where open.......

What more can I say.

Like to know who the directors are of each bookies chain.

Cheers Geoff. 8)

In fairness to all the moans about FOBT's, I have seen the following, 15 blacks in a row when the person had only covered black.

Also someone just betting the maxium allowable on only 2 numbers to have them come in enought times that there balance was £3,500 + within 10 minutes. (£27.50 a spin)

But for most people you find playing these won't remember that happening because they were on a roll at the time and probably stuck it all back in the next FOBT they found and then moan they had no luck and that it was fixed. How many times have you seen someone build up a £100 - £300 balance to walk out the shop with nothing?

I know that these machines will be here to stay but one thing i think they should change is time between spins, you can spin I guess every 15/20 seconds, whilst in a casino I guess a number gets spun every few minutes per table (after payouts etc).

Maybe the extra minute might help the punters who you see getting the "red mist" and just keep hitting repeat until they win or more likely lose the lot to walk away.

Also on a final point unless it has changed recently if you press start on all the machines at the same time the same number comes in, because it comes from a external source. Hence why if you press start after the shop closing time it will crash and not spin in a number as the main server site will not be producing random numbers. So it is clearly impossible for the machine to pick a number just because you haven't covered it.

The machine is designed for the bookies to win, not us! at a percentage of 97.5% per spin it does not need to cheat you. So if you have 20 spins of the wheel the odds are reduced to 60% of you breaking even, (being 97.5% x inself 20 times). With thoose sort of odds it really is throwing money away (from someone who has done it more than once in the past).

I've bunged the cashier a tenner before to stay open after closing time. The server still spewed out numbers.

Been playing these for about 8 month, and have now realised I need to stop playing these before its too late. Regarding the random/fixed argument I tried to believe they were random but the shit I have seem them do just makes a mockery. Ok have won big before have had good months about 7k up in one month, however these machines seem to defy probalitty. If you got the same sequence of numbers in casino roulette you would probably think the wheel was knackered. Government needs to have a look at these things. Weird patterns of numbers I have seen recently

13 repeating 5 times (had £6 on last 4 times)
0 spinning in countless times on big black/red bets
this sequence of numbers

0,0,0, 1,4,0,15,15,15,7,7,0, (guess which few numbers the punter wasnt covering? in his £60 spins)

I think the machines seem to be less harsh on losing streaks if betting small e.g £2-5 spin, however if you bet quite a bet, no doubst the machine thinks (here is a quick chance to steal some money here to meet my target)

I have no doubt they are paying to a high % but no way now I can believe they are not fixed, honestly gave them the benefit of the doubt, but the evidence of them been fixed is just too strong in my opinion

Anyway whether random/or fixed they still shoulds be only seen in casino's not on your doorstep
