FOBT - why its' not like _casino roulette
In a land based casino in the uk the rake is 2.7%. However the hold at a roulette table is about 15% (On the total amount of bets placed).
IMO if an empolyee of a bookmaker states (as previously quoted in this thread) that the machines are taking 200-300% as a hold then something is a miss. Is it because the machines are too random? Nobody knows.
Post on any gambling board and use the words RNG and the reply from the users will be do not play it.
Go to a real casino or use Dublinbet.
Cheers.

I've nothing to add to the debate regarding whether they're fixed or not, but what I would say is that in this day and age, there's no need to go into bookies any more. AWP's are mostly gone, and you can usually get better odds from the comfort of your home without having to go down to the High St. Furthermore, Betfair offer a zero roulette game (and zero poker and zero blackjack) which means that there is no house edge whatsoever. The table limits are usually quite low as well - which means you can't spunk away hundreds of pounds in a few minutes.

You mean on the Betfair forum?
I was reading a bit about it (on their site though) and they said they'd lost a big wad of money to punters in Greece (I think) though obviously it didn't say about the countries where they'd cleaned up.
EDIT: found this - http://www.bettingpro.com/category/Casi ... -Roulette/

Well I am £2250 up overall on £22K staked, this doesn't sound rigged to me... ( this is playing the zero bj/roulette), I would post my profile to prove it ( I will do at a later date if anyone thinks I'm talking bull) but the casino site is down at the moment. Infact out of about 60 sessions on it I have only lost on 1 off the 60 sessions (was a small loss that time too), usually cut and run at about £50 up, incredibly lucky yes, but it just shows its certainly not rigged.harry2 wrote:Even the Betfair casino is rigged accoring to most of the posters over there, and there are certainly some sharp minds on that site.

Back to FOBT's
When a bookmaker wants to open a new shop gaming/planning permission is required. The other bookies established in the area oppose the move. However in doing so they have to release their own accounts for their own shops to the authorities. Everyone has access the them. As anyone can oppose or support the application. The accounts will have profit and loss with takings for each sports/machines. From this rake and hold can be calculated. Somebody must have a bookmakers wanting to open near them.
Cheers Geoff.
