Hi,

Bumped into an old friend today who was a fairly top boy in Sussex when I used to know him.

He told me he's packed in the fruits some time ago and now makes a small fortune coming up with catchy web domains, vast majority of them being Gambling orientated.

Apparently there is a huge market out there at the moment for gambling themed domains and he's had a quite a few good touches selling them to online casinos, gambling companies.

Anyone else with any experience of this?

Seems a bit like bullshit to me.

I can't get my head around some things in life. I heard in the news recently that a 17 year old sold some app to Yahoo for several million pounds. All it does is summarise news stories in a few words. Presumably so you get a little thumbnail and a few words to click on if you want the full story. His family were apparently very well connected in high faluting IT business circles.

My hunch - I'd say your friend's story contains elements of truth. I don't doubt he has had 'hits' doing this thing. I do doubt he can make a sensible living from it. Then again, what do I know?
