In my local today playing a few games of darts and whatnot.
Anyway, guy starts playing DOND. I play the machine alot and have learnt *most* the boxes.

Guy gets 3 phones, and value spins in. As I walk to the toilet, I glance over his shoulder and see the box has 10p in it. (Blatent 10p box due to spots over it lol)

So, me being nice said 'Just so you know mate, you've got 10p in the box'.
In reply, I got a lecture of 'Let ME play it' and 'Why don't you put your money in and play it'.

I see the guys point, but surely this isn't a way to thank someone?
Anyway, he plays DOND, deals at the second offer of £9.08 and it shows 10p in the box. Didn't get a thanks, all I got was a dirty look.

Thoughts?

Yeah, you got short shrift. I mean the thing is, you do get lots of randoms offerring stupid crap advice. How many times have you been on a quiz for some goon to shout out the wrong answer for the hell of it?

Have they nothing better to do? Perhaps this guy had been victim to one of them and you got tarred with the same brush.

Unfortunate, but being helpful to people on bandits is rarely to your advantage. Your advice was good, but you got no thanks. Par for the course. Putting on his best Mike Reid, take my advice, best keep schtum!

Good eyesight btw, spotting a box from behind a player.

Just don't bother helping mugs out, most of them deserve nothing.

Giving advice is sometimes instinctive..but it's a bad move, better off spotting the mistake, and reaping the rewards..

I picked up a copy in HMV for about £5 not so long back - probably November ish. On of my best spent £5 ever. Anyone watched it with the Hellmuth and rest commentary? - Good stuff.

this kind of thing really gets to me, I hate rats and people without manners witha passion, I have been known to kick shit out of people for not showing respect in situations like this, you have been polite and he has come across as a cock if it wasnt a local or a good location I would offer him outside or insist that he apogogise for coming across as a cock.

If some random told me that he'd just took 70 out of summit i'd gone in for, i'd still have to key it, i wouldn't be able to walk out without! thats just me!
at the end of the day its all about money and everybody wants a slice!
You shouldn't have said owt about the 10p box, i know you were just being friendly but he probably thought you were poaching lol
ps its a wander he never approached you after, conscious of how you knew lol :)

Except, y'know, to him the thread starter was the one being a cock. People don't want some random twat coming over to give them "info" when they're playing machines, they want to be left the fuck alone to play their game. I detest this ridiculous cultural phenomenon that people think they somehow have a right to just come up and stand watching me when I'm playing a machine, or offer me "advice.*" It's like going up to someone standing outside smoking and telling them "those things will give you cancer mate."

I should point out for the record that I appreciate the OP's intentions were good and that he was trying to be genuinely helpful, but surely you can see why the guy reacted the way he did. That "kick the shit out of people for not showing respect" line is just hilarious though.

*Usually consisting of either "Take the tenner/random generic feature mate!" when on a blatant JP board, or the classic "You'll never win on those machines son!"

I often pity people who are doing their brains in a bag of shit, and part of me, albeit a very small part, wants to educate them or steer them away from said machine, but then I remember that I rely on fruits as my main source of income, and that the person having a session probably has a good job, so if thats how they choose to spend their spare time/money then thats their prerogative.

Given said individuals response to some genuine help I feel totally vindicated in my decision not to offer help to anyone.

Apart from getting them to punt a machine which will be worth me "tidying up" after them.... :D

Maybe its a difference in age or area that we were raised but I believe in treating people with respect especially people you dont know (they can be the proper nut jobs) but op seems to aproach player as I know what that box is mate take the win and all is ok , other geezer comes across as typical rat muggy bugger,
