Calling all moderators.........

its apparent to many on here who the thieves are, why don't you just BAN THEM? What purpose do they serve except to annoy people with their tales of stealing.... I'm fucking sick of it, and i'm sure many others are. Is it really that difficult?

Sin?

I agree BUT id like to point out I know a lot of what goes on with tools frm sources but I never have and never will tool myself

You cant presume people who talk about it, do it.

Rule 4 - Regarding the discussion of tooling on this board

Moderation has been lax in this area previously, but McStreak's post has brought me back on top of this whole matter again.

I see that once again a tooling related thread, which I participated in (d'oh), has risen to the number one conversational spot within the general forum. It's a very relevant subject to today's playing climate and I can see why it invokes passion within the fruit chat community.

However, please can tooling chat be done via PM? It is still against the rules/ideals of the forum to talk on this subject.

To quote the fruit chat rules.

"4.) Illegal Methods. Under no circumstances may you post about making money from machines using illegal methods. This includes, but is not limited to, vandalising machines and breaking into them (known as tooling). Any mention of this type of activity will be frowned upon, your post will be deleted and at the discression of the administrator you may be banned."

If enough people feel strongly that this rule is stifling what they would like to discuss on this board, or indeed that this rule is not stringent enough to cope with tooling related chat then PM me with suggested ammendments and I'll pass on any sensible proposed ammendments to Mike, the site admin. There is no guarantee the rule will be changed in any way, but it seems a fair number of people, not just Mc Streak feel passionately about the subject and the rules/lack of rules surrounding it on this board.

I presume the number one person that Mc Streak is referring to is Anfield Road, apologies if I'm wrong, but judging by a remark made in the Hi/Lo Silver thread, I don't think I am. Anfield Road has broken that rule 4 before, as have many others. I'm also aware some people have issues with Anfield Road but he is a valid contributor to fruit chat, if a little contentious and edgy at times, so I personally have no plans to bar him.
I am also aware that prior to me being a moderator he posted up details of methods, on a number of occassions that strongly contravened rule 4.

I believe that there are other members who post here regularly(ish) that participate in tooling related activities. They are not always the cocksure ones asking for locations of a particular type of notechanger. I cannot ban people on grounds of suspicion of tooling, however those people who deliberately flaunt rule 4 from now on, such as say asking for notechanger locations or illegal methods *will* be banned at a moderator's discretion.

I have had to delete much of the the original thread started by Blackcurrantsoda. Whilst I appreciate it's a topic of interest to a fair few fruit chat members, it is against the rules, which do state that posts of this nature will be deleted.

I agree, I NEVER EVER start threads regarding tooling. other people do!!! Why do some people feel the urge to talk about it?, anyway as JG just said, I do believe we should STOP talking about it and crack on discussing the playing side of things!

Well moderators don't have the power to ban anyone.

Admin.... have a buck!

i'm 100 % with McStreak on this contentious topic .

i would also like to add that anyone in the industry, pubtrade or whatever reading these threads and seeing some players attitudes to this illegal passtime might be forgiven for tarring legit players with the same brush.

there was a certain entry in the newb guide/glossary(since been removed?) , made by a regular that may have raised peoples suspicians(i know it did mine) that coupled with a few apathetic posts and a seemingly sympathetic stance and people may also be forgiven for thinking the worst.

best to not say anything on the subject except condemning it.

borrowing someone elses signature ;"silence is golden"....indeed , and NEVER misquoted.

I think 'rule 4' was supposed to be directed at toolers boasting/discussing methods, why can't a player state something that is current and ongoing. It was posted as a warning if anything, deleting the post has covered it up in favour of the toolers.

Fair enough, I'll drop admin a pm tonight and get some clarity on rule 4. I appreciate you're one of the good guys, it's the 'any mention' part of that rule which caused me to delete much of the thread for now.

Cheers,

JG
