I will probably go back to stealing airbags, or become a mercenary.

How old are you Gary ?? Your view of your options when this business goes belly up is a little worrying to me. I'd say you must be 18-20 ish. Let's say the scene has another 5-10 years in it tops, that would make you 30ish. If you want to earn good cash then training is the only way forward in my view, that means pre-uni qualification, then uni itself.
I don't think I could ever write off how much fun I had at the right age going to uni. You simply have to do this with peers of your own age for it to be all worthwhile. We had a couple of mature students and although they were made to feel welcome, they never really fully integrated with the rest of the student population.
This is not a holier than thou sermon, just a case note for pause for thought.
Get qualified, earn 40k + a year for the rest of your life and play what's left of this industry for casual cash and believe it or not, enjoyment a couple of times a week.

Very True!

If you bang out a couple of kids as well you can live the high-life.

You get next-to-no bills and lots of money paid into your account.

As seen in recent news as well, you dont even have to look after the kids properly and you still get the property and the BUCK$ !!!
