Minimum to earn off Fruits, before changing lifestyles?

Post by Slammer »

It has become increasingly apparent to me recently, that many people play merely as a way to survive a gambling addiction and/or, feed a drug habit.

Therefore, I am wondering, out of all you players/ professionals / dol-seekers/ misc bums/ twats, what do you aim to see, a day and if this figure was no longer obtainable (as an average), you would give it up and move on?

Please answer the poll accuratly or its absolutely sodding pointless :!:

Bear in mind, this is an indication of an average, acceptable days wage so just because your doing the latest, dont tick 500 a day. Im asking what you would 'give it up for' if you couldnt achieve the X a day (in general, we've all had days that have gone horribly wrong, but I'm talking as a weekly average).

Toolers need not apply. This poll is for legitimate earnings on AWP/CLUB/SWPs only. The figure is based on Gross Profit after day to day expenses such as Drinks, McDonalds, Petrol etc but not including things like Car Maintenance, Acme, Loss of Life, Divorce Settlements and so forth.

Sorry, but i voted 100to149. this is a lie! i didnt notice the word fruit in the poll title.
although it is disingenuous, it is a very valid poll
I am a painter decorator of high esteem, but feeling the pinch.
I took 70 from ital job, 55 from mon here@now, 85 from big reds,
and an 18cashpot from gamesnet yesterday.
Great you may say . . but this took me about 7 hours to win net £228.
I went for a drink and won, went home £150 in profit, had a curry, watched grand prix, and went home slaughtered after seeing a band
But i REALLY pissed the wife/dog/neighbours/taxi driver/curryhouse off, didnt surface for work (more grief), and have ruined a £180 lacoste
jumper. oh and spent a 100 today.
Now this may say more about my problem with my love of alchohol/pubs, BUT the point is that i missed work! Gutted and shameful.

WON + £150 net
DAY OFF WORK -£120
offending all and sundry, sitting on my ass typing this sorry tale, and finally not doing something i really enjoy today is not, for me, worth £30 quid.
So, finally, I feel that £100 earned grafting is worth more than any easy day!
Off to AA . . . . Steve. :o ops:

I think you have hit the nail on the head for what so many people with a decent job think, but for what so few will admit.

Something that always amazes me, I keep records of +/- for each unit (as its respective for timing the next visit) and the days total is so much lower than what your expecting when you bag up, after food, taxis and P.R. drinks !! :?

hard one as machine profits are very variable and cannot be compared to a normal job with a garenteed income. Tbh I'd rather do a day on fruits and make £50 (I'm doing alot better than this at the moment :P) than work all day in McDonalds, infact I couldn't see myself working for any less than £12-15/hour, on day rates. If no such work was available I'd sooner do a few fruits to keep by, although one day I'll have to put the effort in and get a decent job I suppose...

I lumped for the most popular £74-£99 bracket. Its a bit of a hard question to answer per day though, per week i just aim for around £300-£400. If that comes from 2 huge days or 5 smaller days then so be it, but so long as i turn a proft i'm happy enough. Likewise averaging over a month, if i have one week that's £200, you could have a £600 week follwoing on. Swings and roundabouts. I don't keep any records, all i know is what's in my bank, and that i'm able to pay off all my rent and bills as well as having a decent life of nights out and holidays etc. Like anfield says, the fruits live on for now.

How many of you guys have mortgages, council tax, housekeeping, car, holidays, sky tv to pay for ? I reckon I need £2k cleared funds per month for a decent standard of living.

yes harry ,spot on.tbh i can well do without the stress of having to rely on fruits these days ,this year i have made only a small part time bonus from them, where as last year i was doing reasonably well for the time i put in.
rent, nursery, food, council tax=1600 a month ,gulp.+ leccy +petrol+credit bills, insurance, etc= a touch under 2k before you even start to think about luxuries, sometimes i ponder how much easier it would be to be a freeloader :|

I'm one of those boys! :) But, have never been a full-time player. First job at 16 (glass collecting! :) earning £50 a week) on my 4th job now (at nearly 29), earning £650 a week. :) And that only 'just' keeps me ticking over, what with:

-Rent
-Council Tax
-Water
-Gas
-Electricity
-Car Insurance
-Car Tax
-Food
-Clothing (Kids uniforms as well!)
-Other means of travel (the missus uses the car)
-Sky & Setanta (OK, not essential, but um, yeah, it's essential!)
-Internet
-Contact Lenses

Along with a few others I've probably forgotten (I don't have credit cards / loans) that leaves me about £300 a month to myself - which really isn't that much if you 'divvy' it up over the month.

I don't even play once a week anymore, more like 2/3 times a month. Keep it ticking over, and it makes sitting in the pub a bit more interesting whilst waiting for pals to turn up, etc.
