Can long term players quit the game when losing?

Not been playing properly too long myself (couple of years), have managed to profit quite well in the first year, not as much since then due to the current direction of machines and tend not to play at all lately. I'd like to say thanks for the help i've reecived from a few people on here with oldish machines and some of the DOND stuff which i kept to myself (people i deal with/pm from time to time). Not learned too much overall but know a little more than a complete newbie (guessing i have about 2-5% of the knowledge of some on here, maybe less, foolishly believed you can't win on the machines a while ago missing out on years of potential profit).
I'm thinking if you have been travelling 100s of miles weekly for every small profit on dozens of machines over the years, can you really go completely cold turkey as many will be addicted to the flashing lights, gambling fix e.t.c without even realising it as they've been making money.

I can honestly say i could go without playing machines, i only do it because i know i can win, its a bit shit at the minute as has been dicussed in other threads too many players/not enough good units etc, i've had a few silly quid in a random machine the odd time, but i would never stick £20/£30/£40 in something i had no idea on.
i won't miss playing machines if they all end as we know em, but i'll miss the profit.

allthough most long termers have a passion for fruits , most of us treat it as a full time job , nothing more ,
it pays the bills
but if i had a million pound in the bank and was living off the intrest , i wouldnt play machines ever again , or even miss them

I agree, even if I had an extortionate sum banked i'd still make the money that was on my doorstep, but wouldn't go out of my way. To be honest the highlight of the last 2 years was finding a winagain in a camp site in the valleys. Nostalgia is my only motivation. Addicted to the profit yes, addicted to the process of playing awp's....NO CHANCE. After nearly 16 years playing as a primary source of income i'm bored shitless with it.
But hey, it beats asking spotty adolescents if they'd like their meal supersized.

ALthough def not as much as a 'player' as some on here i tend to go without hitting any slots for weeks then go mad for afew weeks. Although dont enjoy it like i did.
Went in yesterday to afew arcades and found it hard to make a profit and if honest was bored with the machines in there.
Although ill admit i prob am slightly addicted to slots i wouldnt miss them now if i didnt play afew years ago it would of been different

no matter how much money i have i would still play.
ive even played dead machines knowing they are dead just for the entertainment.
if you told me that i could put £50 in a machine and get £35 back but be on it for an hour i'd do it if i was bored.
sometimes you just pay for entertainment.
