Many of us know plenty of people who have been ruined by this game, too much too young, no routine, money for other distractions e.t.c.
The life style of pro-player with time on his hands and no one to answer to does not generally (obviously there are exceptions) breed success in other aspects of life. There are plenty of people who have had all the empties under the sun, but as life goes by they could put all their possessions into a black bag.
So does anybody know of any true success stories where through playing/ investing/ riding the property wave people have made a serious amount of cash? and can sit back not at all concerned about the decline in the industry. Obviously names need not be mentioned.

Not quite fruity related, but won enough on Give Us A Break quiz machines to put a deposit on my first house, cost £49,000. Managed to make £7500 before they added thousands of questions. Basicallly it was one of the first generation quiz machines where you answered an easy red question for one point and then picked a colour from yellow (two points) to black (seven points). There was only about 250 black ball questions and it didnt take long to know all of the answers. After 5 reds and blacks you had to answer the six colour questions, again there wasn't that many. There was only myself and one other guy in Reading doing them. Lasted about three months. Probably wasted three times as much buying halves of coke.
Roulette free since December 2011.

I've got £16K amassed, but haven't got a clue what to do with it, people suggest ISAs, but £1000 a year in interest is hardly enough to retire on, and not enough for any property. I've thought of Bulgarian Property, but never get round to doing anything constructive.
I might invest in a van or something, I ain't got a clue.
Anybody else any ideas, If it wasn't for the recent smoking ban & the way the pub industry is going, I may have got into the licenced trade as a leaseholder, but as we all know, this is another non-starter these days.
One thing, playing fruities, you are self-employed in a sense, and don't want to work for somebody else.

I know at least one player on here who has a new car and his own property paid for entirely through fruit winnings.
I also know a few (myself included) who have a car(s) and pay their rent/mortgage quite comfortably.
I don't really know anyone who's made enough to retire though.
I think a lot of it is down to attitude. I could make far, far more on machines than I do (as is the case, i'm sure with many people). This is IF I was willing to play and travel constently and change my lifestyle significantly.
Instead, I only play 2-3 days a week (and when I do, I don't skimp on expenditure), take the girlfriend out for dinner once/twice a week, go out with non-playing mates at the weekend, buy new clothes, takeaways etc.
This means I've got not-a-lot more than the wedge in my pocket and the 'stuff' that I own (3 cars and a £6k dj setup included...so not bad)
IF, however, I never went out, didn't have/ spend time with mates, spent nothing on my g/f (and inevitably be single), didn't buy takeaways, had half-cokes instead of pints in pubs and never treated myself then, yes, I'd be loaded...but my god I'd be miserable!!

I understand your comment and I agree, often, money loses it's value. However, losing £1,500 on roulette would still bother me.harry2 wrote:It's easy come, easy go. Probably the same for 99% of players though mr rude, all about dedication. I'm in the same boat, make enough to live off/run a car/buy what i want/holiday etc, so my bank balance only slowly creeps up. I only play 3/4 days a week too....if i could be arsed to play 7 days a week and put hours in every day i reckon i'd be pretty minted. Trouble is i'd never see my mates, be able to do other stuff i want to do, and i think i'd also be miserable.
