Some [potentially] stupid questions from a beginner

Hi again folks, gents, and chavs alike.
Been playing the bandits for about 3 months now (I'm 22 and never touched one until the mrs got me into them, bitch) and I'd probably consider myself better than your average player - by this I mean I understand how they work and why, when to force a machine, when it's worth playing on etc, over your standard "lol if I put a pound in will I win some monies?" type of person.
However there's a few things I don't quite get. I'm not after LOL WUT R THE EMPTIERS and HOW CAN I JP EVERY MACHINE IN THE UK but I'm curious:
Does playing 30p spins instead of 50p spins impact the gameplay in any other way than the features/repeaters? What I mean is, does playing 50p make me more likely to get on the board on say, DOND Deal Wheel? (it counts X-X-X and XxXxX anyway, but 50p makes everything red) Disregard this for machines that count all numbers for 50p etc, I understand that bit. Is it more likely to JP if I've been playing 50p spins? I suppose it would as it's gona fill faster, but I just wondered if it sort of "punishes" you for playing smaller spins. I've always played 50 as it's how I started out, but I see a fair few people spinning 30s.
Also, I was wondering if there's anything in the idea of "confusing" the programming in the machines. Yes, I read THAT book online in my naivity thinking it might help me as a new player, but no, it was shite. But the confusion part made slight sense if it's set on a particular path and you disrupt that path... so nudging in the one it doesn't expect you to etc? I have a strong feeling this is BS, but I had to ask.
Clearly there's things people are understanding that I'm not, but I do find these things quite interesting. At the end of the day, there's a system in place, and systems can be beaten one way or another, generally with logic (or a shedload of money).
Basically I like to think I'm a fairly intelligent person (not bigging myself up, but I'm no moron - then again if I was that intelligent I wouldn't have chased my losses on cluedo last week, sober, and left feeling mortified after 3hrs) but I can't for the life of me work out the logic, beyond forcing (which makes sense). Though with forcing I'm not quite sure how quickly the % is affected by filling up the bank, but that's something I'm getting to know.
I really really wish I'd never learned to play these bastard things, but they can be so much fun - I've never had an addictive personality. I gave up alcohol for a year without problem, I quit smoking one day 2yrs ago without even trying and never touched another, I quit weed in a similar manner, and a number of other drugs and bad habits, but when it comes to bandits, I'm just too sucked in by the promises of features, flashing lights, stupid noises, and the occasional successful repeater.
I know they're biased. I know it's not a game of chance. I know the whole "skill" issue is incredibly ironic, but it's just so much damn fun getting on that board.
Don't burn me too much, I'm just interested.
Cheers,
/J
