I've seen a few posts on here saying that a machine is chipped or unchipped.
How can you tell?
Sorry for the dumbarse question, but I thought I'd ask, like.

Look for pockmarks in the wood. That'll do it.

You're looking for the CRV (Chip reading verifier) number on the back baseplate next to the electrical testing verification. There may be other details relating to supplier and percentage.
This will show the initital chip revision, you now have to work out the current revision by either using a key>menu>display>readout>update>PRO COMM/COMM which will give the current prog. no.
Obviously if you don't actually know the chip number (p1,p2.1,p1.1b etc) then it's a pointless exercise.
Other signs in the program will let you know what chip it is running on. For instance they rechipped the original Cluedo and called it Cluedo Super Sleuth by moving the conservatory next to the hall. This had the effect of reducing the number of stabbings with the candlestick. In the latest incarnation, usual suspects, they've removed all the rooms and replaced them with numbers, £10 being the kitchen, £2 being the hall and £1 the billiard room.

Use a magnet. You can pick these up from any high street hardware store. Put it up against the machine where the refillk keyhole is positioned. This interferes with the supermodern computers (MPU5 technology!!!). My regulars always see these lads come into my Boozer, use their magnet and always empty the bandit.
