Just wandering how many players have managed to buy a house outright. Not talking about mortgages, but actually saved there money over the years and gone and bought a house or flat with it. I know a few players who have managed this, but buying a nice car seems the first choice for most players. Seen quite a few players around the north with nice BMW's and Audi's and a really prominent player near me has a newish BMW m3 with the reg M8 5LOT (any guesses who?) I know it seems quite shallow, but I think you can judge how sucessfull a player is by the car they drive. For those who don't drive, well my view is your not a proper player. Your car is your greatest tool.

I disagree with your car thing though, I had a new x-trail with a private plate at the same time that a player who I would rate slightly better than myself was driving a 10-year-old hatchback and probably making twice what I did on the fruits.

It's more about priorities.

Indeedy. Bigger car equals more petrol (which in this day and age is a killer), higher insurance, much higher tax, more upkeep etc.

If you like that sort of thing then great, but for me so long as i've got an ok car which is cheap to run and gets me where i want to go, which i have, then i'd rather spend my remaining cash elsewhere.

Being a "good player" doesn't necesarily mean you own a car/house etc. it also depends on how lazy you are ie. how many hours you work for, and how you spend your winnings, ie. save, or blow on drinking/clothes/entertainment etc.

Also let me address this "good player" notion in the first place, alot of people, generally those under 20 seem to be obsessed with this concept;

Is there really machines that are that difficult to play at the moment?? In my view, most players can play all the playable machines out at the moment as good as the next guy - is playing mainstream players machines such as reds/cluedos/attacks/wijb etc. really that difficult that we can say one person is better than another on them?! GUAC really ain't that difficult even without the wedge, and any twat can force a red out!

OK if not skill then what else? Information I suppose, this in my view is simply a representation of how many contacts you've built up over the years, and also whether you pay for methods/emptiers etc - is this really an indication of a "good player". It's very rare you actually work out a emptier yourself, and even if you did, you probably stumbled on it by a complete fluke.

Right I've covered skill and information, some of you are probably thinking oh but what about the money they've made; well look back to the top of the thread for my thoughts on that; although suffice to say if you have a few quid you ain't a mug :P

Got a house on the market right now (not funded by machines), moving London for a few years so it's a race against the crunch!

Yeah most players are all decent enough, it just depends what you've got about that determines what you make. I'm a lazy fecker which stops me earning as much as i could....if i make a load one day i don't usually bother the day after. Better things to do, couldn't be doing it all day every day, i'd go insane!

In respect of cars, if my sole income was from fruit machines, I certainly would not invest in an asset that depreciates as much as a high value car.

house car clothes etc?, i dont think there the measure of a great player .
you should never judge a mans wealth by how he appears .

look at richard branson, jeans baggy jumpers, non groomed hair etc .
or how about jay allard, senior microsoft employee, wears chav clothes and skateboards round his offices, both men are worth millions but if you didnt know them you'd think they had nothing .
getting back to slotters
many players i know have enough money from slotting to afford their own home, doesn't meen they should ,

as ob and others have said , you cant judge a slotters greatness on his skills neither .

Strongly agree with this statement. When I can talk about good players, Im not really talking about about info, even though this does come into it. Its about treating the game like a real job, the ability to emotionally separate ones self from a machine, and to be disciplined. I supose the ultimate reflection on how good a full time player is, is how much money they consistantly make (over years) and the lifestyle that goes hand in hand with this.

When Im talking about houses and cars, Im talking about when anyone is sucessfull in life, the first things they normally do are to buy a home and a car. There maybe exceptions, but its sometimes obvious to see how well a player is doing by the car they are driving. I see some of the players that I know for a fact have money, maybe driving around in a new civic or focus but then I might see a player driving around in a clapped out fiat uno or ancient rover. Its obvious who's making good money and who isn't. I've just bought a volvo c30, half deposit - half 0% fiance, and its easily the most expensive car I've bought. I've got use of another smaller car so I supose I can mix it up a bit regarding which one I use. I know buying a new car isn't the brightest thing fiancially to do, but on those dreary mornings in winter it might perk me up a bit and make me stay out longer. I did fancy a range rover, then I thought if my earnings suddenly take a tumble, well you know the rest.

I don't think the quality of car can be compared to the level of income from fruits. For instance, 2 players could have the same contacts, info, skills and discipline yet, player 1 drives a Type R, lives in a luxury apartment and flaunts his gains, player 2 drives a 10 year old reliable motor and lives conservatively BUT invest prudently for the future.

Never judge a book by its cover because you just don't know.

Redlinesman, is the c30 the new hatchback? If so, thats a very nice car mate especially the c30r which I think is in the TV ad. But if you wanted a similar car that doesn't depreciate (greatly) you should have purchased a Mini Cooper S, although if I'm not mistaken you have a very cool retro looking car.
