what the fuck does it mean on the "random" 35ers/bookies machines when it says the game is compensated?

any links or cut and pastes of gambling legislation please??

It means, the more recently it has paid out, the less likely it is to pay out again. Or, the longer it's been since a win, the more likely it is to give one. In other words, it isn't truely random, it "compensates" for big wins or losses, to maintain its percentage payout over time (usually measured over 100000 games).

Is it effectively that the 'weighting' has changed?

The random number for getting a JP (for example) has been 1 in 1000, but it is now 1 in 2500?

Very simple explanation, but along those lines, I guess?

Yeah, sounds about right to me. If it were really truely random then we'd hear of more things like independent five-in-a-row jackpot games. :)

so do we think they are independent on these video-games or are they connected and compensated by each other?

I'd say independant, simply because I can't see different companies cooperating that much. The temptation to be the one to give the big win, and therefore screw over every other game on the box and make your game the favourite, would be too great.
