ok so I keep rumours about machines leaving pubs by the end of the year, complete rumour or some fact in there?

another version was no JP machines other than quiz allowed in places that serve food.


Anyone know the full truth?

I too have heard the rumours and September seems to be the date that's getting banded about.

I don't believe it will be an overnight change but think fruit machines as we know them will probably be phased out in the next couple of years.

I would also be interested if anyone has any facts.

where are these rumours coming from prey tell?!?! wouldn't that be the end for fruit machine manufacturers? Unless machines are only allowed in arcades I suppose, which would mean only lotechs really....

There's a rumour going round that pubs are going to phase out beer as well: and people talking to each other. If they bring in some books and have a coffee shop they can start calling themselves Waterstones.

AWP's are definitely being phased out in non licensed premises - I think the deadline is September 2009?
The can be replaced by non licensed SWP/ quiz machines.

Fruities being banned from pubs is undoubtedly nonsense!
