The added cost of many hours and miles playing

Post by Mattb »

Afternoon all,

After a profitable session a couple of hours ago i went and bought yet another subway meal. Chicken Pizziola meal deal if you must know. Anyway, this set be back £5.10 sterling. It just made me wonder how much i squander on takeaways and beverages. Now averaged out i reckon:

£5 on soft drinks per playing day. Four of those a week, one of which will involve alcohol. £25-£30 a week on drinks.

Food whilst out. A couple of subways a week, whatever else i buy during the day, and usually one Indian/Chinese/Pizza sometime over the weekend. Cost over the week approx. £20

Food and drink cost a month approx. £175-£200

Food and drink cost over a year approx. £2000-£2400

Now this is enough to make the mind boggle. Two grand on a load a of crap if we're being honest. Now the drinks are part of the game really, can't get around those a reat deal. But the food is an interesting one. I could save nearly all of that eating at home, or cut it down a lot by doing a supermarket run and doing my own grub before/after i play. But....i can't be arsed, and do like my junk food and takeaways unfortunately. When i add on all other expenses per month like...

Food and Drink £175-£200
Car Insurance £60
Car fuel around £100
Road tax £10
Rent £100
Phone etc £30

It means i'm £500 odd down a month without even doing anything. A lot of money really, just as well i can make enough otherwise it would be a complete no go wouldn't it. Now my very limited part time job only brings in £200 a month, so that knocks me back to £300 down. Still a good chunk though.

How does everyone else compare? 8)

exactly the same as you m8,
yup the drinks are a required part of the package but every thing else can be seen as a whim, youve gotta eat and run a car also though

mind you whatever others may think we do work hard on the fruits, it is a full time job with longer hours than most ,and higher stress levels, so we deserve the whims and luxuries .

still a lot of unnecessary spending .

we should treat ourselves to the odd chinky mcdonalds kfc, clothes , cars lcd tv ,ps3 foreign holiday etc , thats the benefit of the path we have chosen,

Yeah, i've also spent a sackload on other stuff. 5 holidays have been paid for that are all before July (france, bognor, bognor, isle of wight, tenerife), a new PC, a gym memebership, a car plus a snooker cue & case (£240) have all been paid for by mugs. Thank you one and all! 8)

There is a hidden cost to being a player though one you cant workout with a calculater and that I think is the women you miss out on. ie the fit bird who has been looking at you all night but you havent noticed because your lurking watching the guy on a pie thats climbing to £5 but has no clue, or worse that girl who comes upto you on the machines and thinks she flirting with you buy pressing the buttons when she doesnt realise this is work not a drunken punt.
Had a bird with best tits ever smack the button on meltdown whilst I was waiting on turnabout. instantly forgot the body and all i could think off was the cash she had lost me, whereas most guys probably would have took her to moes tavern instead. ha

Surely if you can hit the likes of GUAC you can knock these home too?
Some were chipped and the reels went reverse which were fun

It actually takes almost 5 minutes for it to time iirc! I timed it once, but usually just hit the bloomin' thing!

moreover has anyone thought about the amount of machines they had to write off ? how many times have you .....

left a machine before a streak because the coinmech has jammed

halfway doing a golden game and the hopper is jammed error 17

had to leave a machine beacuse its closing time and you cant go back for it in the moring beacuse of other commitments/ travelling distance etc

i'm sure many of you can add o the list . this is another expense to playing.
