Newcastle I always found a poor place to play, remember in the day the 2 big city arcades used to have about 20-30 hi techs each normally good selection of reds and crests, however were completly battered by players, and loads of sharks also to pick up the scraps. Also remember been in Barrow once where it was definately a breeding place for Empire Games, every pub/club seemed to have an empire in there. Empires on anything other than £5 jackpot are no fun.

Best place which springs to mind is when I was in Leeds once finished about £500 up over the weekend, all the reds were pretty ready to drop, (just one of those days I guess, even found an old Barcrest Revolution in a city arcade which did a nice £75 for a tenner in.

Quiksilver arcades used to set their 25p and above machines at 92% which is one of the highest in the UK. I used to do quite well then. Otherwise I like playing online - see below.

Hi all, I'm a fellow fruit machine player (and also a bit of a casino freak). I'm not sure if people here know that you can play various UK fruit machines online for real money or freeplay. The games I'm specifically thinking of are BarX, Happy Fruits etc - but there are a range available online. BarX has been one of my favourite arcade fruits for years. It's typically set between 84 and 92% in the best arcades - however it's set closer to 95% online. Plays identically to the arcade versions. I've had hours of fun in both freeplay and real money play modes.

My blog (100% free) has an article about this from which you can click through to play: http://beatthecasinos.blogspot.com/2008 ... sinos.html

Good luck - let me know how you get on - whether you're playing for fun or for real money.

By the way, does anyone here of any other online casinos in which you can play true UK style fruit machines for real money?

Don't know if people mean geographic or type of location, but I've taken to the local bingo hall as a great place to play.

Cons: You're in a bingo hall by yourself

Pros: Full of OAPs and females who couldn't force a cat, let alone a fruity
- Percentages set higher, 80-90%+
- Every so often, everyone leaves the machines to go and lose bingo, leaving me to mop up their losses
- Can still get a pint or even food, and it's cheaper than a pub
- My particular club is just the right size - three main clusters of machines, perfect for watching what everyone's playing and more importantly how they're doing

I've had losses there, sure, but I definitely win more and lose less than any pub or arcade tht I used to frequent.

Yes i'd have 2 agree
Bingo halls, with their 80-92% and
no player threat can be a good place
2 make money. Shame about the piss-poor selection tho.
Worst place Hollands Amusements,

Arthur Holland is a fat toad! The only reason he survives in Leicester up against Thomas's is because he has a shop next to a bus depot.
Is that other one near Waterstones still going? It was dead as a ducking Dodo when I popped in there back in the p1whizziwig days.
I've no real course to go to Leicester now. Another dross hole is Lisa's - 74% on most of their stuff apart from B3s obviously.
Thomas's was massive almost this time last year. 4 reeler and Drac Pack (failed clone, p1 wiyb). All the £6 Fairground/video BWB/Untouchables/Dr.Who stuff had gone ;(

Everywhere always seems so much more savvy as time goes by. Obviously most of last year was an exception. Very, very kind of LL to put a p1 wiyb in a bookies very close to where I used to live last year.
However with more players than ever before things will be tight. It sure as hell feels that way. I have an easy Cleudo in the centre here. Alas, it is, surprise, well covered. Of course there is other stuff to look up. What am I moaning about? I think to sum it up, the frequency of days where everything is burnt/dead has increased on last year. That said the slab tinted spectacles were probably around last year at this time as well. I know it's the shortest month, but both FEBs 07+08 were the lowest points of the year for s34 AWP (last 15 months).

I suppose I could drive around all the outskirt, Harvesters and Tobys and whathaveyous. That would all depend on what was inside. I fear lots of brand new DONDs. Seems to work for one of the Leicester lads.

People have been going on about bingo halls. I find that the bingo halls around here are dangerous to walk in and play blind. Too many sharks and knowsomes. However they can be good when busy late at night, but everywhere is usually so quiet this time.

I've been silly recently as well. Finishing say £80 up, then playing rusty nails.

Thomas' arcade in Leicester is a shit hole, the one opposite Argos. Only been in there once never again, played a random spinner and it looked like it was made from a c64 and a cardboard box.
