Could sumone please enlighten me with what the 'insert coins' light means as in terms of playability. My interpretation is that if its not 'lit' its not full. But there may be more to this than meets the eye.....

OK maybe your right. But since only playing ones which are 'lit' i have had more success. And i have been playing them whilst the 'bulbs have blown'. Must just be coincidence.

Hold on though, is it not similar to note changers? They 'go off' if there's not much left in the machine. Although I'm not sure why an Insert Coin lamp would go off if it was short, as surely 'Inserting Coins' would fill it up!

I should of been more specific but thats what I was comparing with. Over the weekend i asked the local arcade technician if he changes this particular bulb very often. He said once or twice every 6months. If he would of said every couple of weeks i may of agreed. To provide a definite answer i suppose i would have to check everyday for a week or two to notice any difference.

Normally Light off can mean a few things,Bulb out,Hopper more than £150 off full on a £250 hopper.Other mcs display a cl light (cash low) when low.Best bet is like you said Keep a closer eye on things check on float day to see if light is on

Rob - you forget to mention whether the machine in question actually accepted coins in the 'lamp off' state ...

Well im a service engineer and thats the biggest joke ive heard in a long time. Theres is no way a lamp can interfer with the game and the payout - its simply impossible - especially on astra machines!
