Oh well, £120 to go Poly on saturday night in B'ham enough for the train, ticket beer and stuff.
LAB takes £90 to get £75 then a £25 so as it pays out the first £1 as the bank has being broke it fucks up some dodgy alarm number comes up and then the guy says I will tell the engineer...... you will get you money tommorow around 4pm.
Mean to be leaving now, and cant go as I have no other money.....what a crappy result

A £120 float? And no other money?

I agree
£120 and no more is a big risk
All reds at some stage can and will take the piss and block the top forever
LAB costs £110 for top
BTW it was full and showing
Managed to get a £50 then £75
Holey Moley
£110 for top from showing
Got £98 back
So at £109 in on these, and you have £10 left you would have been in big trouble
Yes it cost under £120 but what if not
I always carry £200 when out
Has happened a few other times too
If you are saying anfield, that a red has never cost more than £100 then you cannot play many out, very often
Granted if full and showing sticking with them 'usually' pays off
A mate of mine went £140 into a SA
Got 2 £75's out

Never gone more than a £100 mae and have played hundreds of them, went through £90 in a Pulsation forced to take a red cash lynx for £10 then streaked for a £100 thats the closest i have come.
I do not play them when they are dead, and around here I know whats due seems as there are hardly any players at all.

everyone that plays reds often will have had them cost £100+ a few times..
As for not playing them when they're dead consider this scenario which is not that uncommon:
Someone gets £75 previous day on stack attack at closing, but it still has a bit of life left, ie. offering ok red features, not blocking £5-6, he leaves it with this.
refill overnight, leaving cash down the bottom, you come in the next day, buy your drink, its full and cash down there, and first board gambles to £7 ( not showing reds obviously!! ) ... I'd say nearly everyone would play it out here, and you would be fucked if you did - may well cost £100+ for a top - the thing with reds is:
YOU CANT KNOW HOW FAR OFF SHOWING THEY ARE BY WHAT THE BOARD IS DOING!! HENCE REFILL ONES OCCASIONALY FUCK YOU OVER!
The only way you'd know for sure it was close is if you'd just watched someone plow loads of money in it, simply gambling to £10 does not indicate its close to showing at all.

Spot on ob
The only real sign of it being ready other than knowing how much has gone through it etc is all red bar one every board
Seeing one like this is rare
It goes to a fiver and it must be playing
Wrong
This is why people end up hating reds
Mis-reading them is asking for trouble
My point is they can take £100 even from showing every now and then

stackattack/kingsransom have cost me over £100 from showing so yes agreed... ( although if they cost loads from showing, you should expect a big streak )
agreed with the comments on how showing first board is rare, and if it is not then all you can do is pump... and hope!!! In the LONG run you'll be fine

Anfield... you do play things on the edge don't you. The golden rule of gambling is not to gamble what you can't afford to lose and trust me you have been very lucky not to be into one for £100+.
Ob and Mr Red are right in what they are saying, reds can be very unpredictable at times and can take a fortune even when showing from the off. Most of the time as long as common sense is used then the big loses can be avoided but you shouldn't really take that risk in the first place if you haven't got any backup money.

Yep, and i'll glady call anyone on here who says they haven't been screwed over at some point by a red a liar!
My very worst is £70 odd down in a Take Two. Seen some bloke run £50 odd through it, red arrowing and gambling well. I played it, £120 for the top, no repeat. Went up after for another £25. Recycled and collected a bit more before it died and i was £70 down. Disgusting :x
