Multi-game Unit Theories

Post by Ruler of The World »

So you go to the bookies or arcades and you have those SG or Storm things with loads of games on them (20+ usually) and some old couple are playing a game no one else plays and lose heavily on it, then the shark comes along and plays the game he's hooked on, loses, then a few more people randomly play various games, etc.

The most popular game appears to be Jackpot Gems, it gets rowed, it goes bonkers sometimes and pays out 2 jackpots in a row... what happens? Is it a unified % random or an individual game random? If you play Thai Flower and lose, is Rainbow Riches Pick n Mix more likely to pay out? How the hell do these bastard things work???????????

Some may say all games are just always random - but how? How can something be random if it returns an average percentage of under 100%? You're telling me I'm just as likely to get a jackpot on one when it just paid 2 in a row than I am if it took £1000 without paying out more than £40?

I guess JG is the most likely one to answer this...

How can random have an average? That's my reasoning. The figure is always below 100% meaning it is fixed to make you lose yet they say it's random.

An average payout does not contradict something being random at all. Casino roulette is random but their edge assuming number play is 1/37 or around 2.7% so the average payout is 97.3%. I could flip a coin and instead of giving you even money I could give you odds of 4/5 for a 100 pound bet which would give an average payout of a random event at 80%. The same is true of random slots there is a complex number generator that translates into wins but the house edge is already factored into the number generator. Hope you can get your head around that. Because that is correct.

I understand but these machines are filthy. In my experience the units of these slots in services and Betfred shops pay far worse (referring to Storm units) - unless I am RANDOMLY always unlucky on those ones.

This is an interesting topic.

Ahmed may have picked up on something here. Because although you may have the same game in different establishments, and they may all advertise the same % payout. There are many different ways of representing thay payout. For example: maybe Betfred and services choose a soft profile with lots of small wins, and other betting shops have their set a bit harsh. Both could be hitting the same %, but the overall feel of the game would be radically different.

My impression is that the win structure is specific to the game rather than site or type of site. Assuming same percentage of course. In fairness I would rather play a game that gave less wins but when I got something it was at least meaningful (ie at least twice unit stake). Playing 2 pound spins and getting 40p 50p and such garbage is an insult anyway. The reality is with these that they're best either not touched or kept to a casual score here and there. The ability to play through such large volumes of credits in a relatively short time creates such a negative roi that it's difficult to defeat and profit. The introduction of fortune spins and the casino slot stake being raised seen to this even further.

Any game on fortune spins in Betfred, you might as well burn your money.
