We had a call from Gamestec the other day to say they knew one of AWPs hadnt been turned on at all a couple of days ago and they wanted to know why. Im just wondering how they knew? There is nothing out of the ordinary on the outside of the cabinet so im assuming there is something inside but even then how is it connecting? There is definetly nothing using our wifi and the machines arent connected to a phone line.

pubco. someone on FE suggested its more likely the collectors data dump that flagged something up, which makes sense as the call came a day or 2 after the collection.

when i worked for gamestec (many moons ago now) some machines were fitted with datapacks.
Sounds like that's what is in placein your case.

the data pack records stuff like machine downtime, doors being opened and by whom (each collector/tech has an electronic key to identify them)
So would flag up if the machine was switched off during trading hours.

they also had a remote monitoring system called MIDAS, this was a more sophisiscated system where machines connected to the net.
essentially did the same job as datacapture.

interestingly none of the systems effectivley protected the machines from toolers.....

I remember seeing a MIDAS box, i was convinced it was fake, it just looked so shoddy. Just there to put people off robbing machines. Proper pound shop rubbish!

i can understand why you'd think its fake lol.

it wasn't exactly "cutting edge" stuff back 20 years or so when it was introduced...

They did work. A mate of mine got collared checking the hopper on a temple of treasure when the MIDAS behind the bar told the landlord! Deny everything!!

they do work and will set off an alarm and raise a service call if the refil key is turned without a collector or tech logged in.

you can also use it reject any coin or note.

for instance, if theres a rake of dodgy £20's notes going round you can inhibit them from the control panal.

or if there is a scam involving £2 coins, you can inhibit them from the console also..
