machines making noise

why bother programming sounds into game software if every pub sets the sound to 0%?

are the noises a distraction to gameplay? can they be too helpful to clowns?
would players get bored of the same noises? would you really prefer to listen to robbie williams/ some old codger moaning about everything?

iirr, when i was growing up the norm was to have the sound on. i blame the mayor.

i'm sure non-players would soon get fed up of whatever audio delights lie within the iridescent box. but sod 'em.

you'll find that most pubs (unless keyed to do it) will not have sound. In arcades howevere most machines will have sound.

i personally like sound on a machine. adds an extra dimension... Happy Campers a good example. love the carry on esque sounds.

feature entry... "MOOOOOOOORNING CAMPERS!"

I love sound effects on some machines, it is a pity that they're mostly turned off. :(

On some machines it was a blessing though as some feature-board tunes etc could be so damn catching. :)

One of my all time fav's is still Cesaers' Palace / Hotshot JP music...!

I'll admit to having a few sounds from emulated fruitees as ringtones / msg alerts on my phone! LOL <<<cringe>>>

Can we not set some sort of thread up to add sounds so they can be downloaded and used as ringtones, I would love YDD music lol

We could simply start a crusade to have the sound on by making a point of keying the machine you've just finished playing, and revving the sound up before you leave...

I only realised today that Jackpot Gems uses the old Bank Raid sound effects, which was nice :)

Mind you, the sound on Bling & Queen needs to be turned OFF soon as!

" turn em up loud i say "

yeah real loud.

IN FACT THIS POSTING IS IN CAPITALS NOW AS IT'S L O U D WITH A CAPITAL LOUD.

BOOOOOOM!

WHO THE HELL IS JD WEATHERSPOON? TURNING DOWN THE VOLUME ON THE SECTION 34 ENTERTAINMENT WITH AMUSEMENT THING WITHOUT MY PERMISSION.

I WANT - NOW LISTEN CAREFULLY

i) Extremely deep bass. I demand a subwoofer capable of handling 10hz frequencies without any fading or dropout.

ii) Each cabinet should have at least ten Denon PX3s - super tweeters which provide warmth and richness to sound. That's why Soul music sounds soooo much better on vinyl.

iii) Thirty quackers (Cambridge Audio Prescario) to convey cheesy pathetic innuendo of a Global or Extreme variety to bust out the eardrums of any stern faced ruddy whisky cheeked party poopers near by.

iv) Four woofers (JBL Quake Ballisticos) for powerful deep bass response.

v) The sub woofer will be a BOSE prototype Jewelcube Acoustimass DPv1 which can apparently generate the level of bass required.

vi) This will leave very little space for the cashbox. I suggest the cashbox be removed all together and % be increased to 100. AWPs are all about silly noises and gameplay, there is no need for money to keep dropping into locked boxes - that's pointless, a feature that needs removing.

vii) A minimum volume setting of 130Db - the same intensity as a jumbo jet powered pneumatic drill in your ear.

BOOOOOOOM!

Shit shit shot - what kind of rig is that? I forgot to mention the surround THX Dobly Nicam Lucasfilm Audiostudio Pro Logic surround units. 60 different speakers of varying frequency responses and yeah yeah blah whatever I don't care how long it takes the Leisure Link man to offload that. PLSMSLSPSLSMPSLMSPLMS. Imagine the looks as the old Genesis cab is reeled, wheeled away and loads of amps, quackers, woofers, tweeters, boosters, zappers and pro logic thingymies are bought in to place.

Insert quid.

Spin.
