Gets expensive buying all that though.....which is why everyone takes soft drinks.
If i'm in a Wethers/Yates i don't buy one as its too busy for them to usually notice.

Depends entirely on location for me, If its a quite location its gotta be a pint of bud, or a half if theres only one 'quick' and easy fruitie.
Wetherspoons, which i am barred from anyway is usually to busy to notice, but still get spotted and booted out now and again.
No way i can keep away from there though, everythings always RIPE for a hammering, especially since the machines are TAW, pulsation, phil the power and spaice raiders

. Dont get much better than that.

Still mineral water at Spoons used to be about 69p which was good, now it's over £1. Can't drink coke and j20 all the time.

if you buy a drink for yourself and whoever looks like the head barman (but not publican) you can get away with it on subsequent visits too. it is also a gentlemanly thing to do. courtesy goes a long way.
when it is winter you can order coffee without looking like a freak. but since i only play (and SWP at that) when i'm having a pint it doesn't really affect me.

lol damn aldershot I won £250 on their club machine in the "victoria club" there, gave them it to change up and got nothing in return as I didnt have my membership card on me, which the barman already noted was fine when I came in. Subsequently they said I had to go into to see the manager who was "apparently" on holiday for 3 weeks, and further that I was barred until this time ( no reason given ). Anyway 3 weeks down the line theres a new manager and the old ones scarpered with the money.
moral : scheming bastards, never change up club machine money any more.
PS: On the drinks front I generally mix it up with bottles of beer and bottles of water dependant on how dodgy the pub feels, although often I'm just not in the mood for soft drinks and go with bottled beer - this is usually the case when I'm already £100+ up on the day :P - and for me I can state that drinking does not make any difference to my play

Ouch OB!!!
I only 'drink' when I'm out on the spin...
Enjoy the following:
Carling
Fosters
Strongbow
Magners
Koppaberg (Pear) (SP?)
Smirnoff Ice (Red) - for when I've almost had enough!
I'll only drink soft drinks if I'm playing after a heavy session out the day before, and that soon turns back into supping pints!
I really find that having a 9-5 job really makes you appreciate 'end-of-play' on a Friday. That first pint in a pub is almost heaven!!!
I can state that drinking does not make any difference to my play
I agree!!!

Completely agree, Matt V - I can't be doing with water, coke and all that rubbish ...
These are pubs for goodness sake! If I'm in a pub then I must have beer, it's enshrined in law somewhere. Hopefully.
Will somebody please enlighten me as to how/why this Magners phenomenon has taken off? There're two people I drink with who won't drink anything else - they can't explain why - yet it really hikes up the price of a round.
£3.29 a bottle seems to be the norm for this stuff. What's wrong with draught cider?

magners is a hell of a lot nicer than draught ciders such as stongbow in my opinion; although I did used to like scrumpy jack which is never in pubs anymore.
Have you actually tried magners and strongbow? Maybe then you'll understand.... The price is so high as it is a pint bottle, some pubs do smaller 330ml bottles which are alot cheaper.
As for drinks in general I think alot of people actually prefer soft drinks for taste, and only drink alcohol to get pissed. Whilst the latter effects are of course good

, I actually enjoy the taste of alcoholic drinks alot more and can't be doing with the constant soft drinks.....
Although, if your doing the rounds by car your stuck to soft's, so I sympathize with these people. Yes I agree its more expensive to buy alcoholic drinks alot but if your making enough it hardly dents the profits anyhow, and it has benefits as in you dont get barred/as much heat in the pub so I can't really sympathize with this point of view as there are positives you miss out on by getting coke.
