Me personally, these days, I'd have told him he was an ignorant **** and left it at that. I've certainly murdered a few landlords in my time though. Probably slotted about half a dozen over my years. So good on you R, he'll think twice about trying that on the next player. Chances are he was watching you put all that cash in and wanted to pounce on it after you left. Dirty tactics but there you go. Unless he only just became aware of you playing. In my experience most genuine plugs happen before you play or after. Plugging whilst you're on a machine is at best jobsworth ignorance and at worst, down right dirty tricks.
It has never happened to me yet. I wouldn't turn to violence (my homicidal days are over now) but I'd be fuming.

Been there. Took it on the chin. Get out before the whole pub clock your face or you'll end up getting barred from the whole town.
