Friends

What is a friend?
Is it someone who you smile at and have a chat with when you bump into them in a service station or on a fruity run? Someone you team up with doing fruits?
In my opinion the only person I have met with to do fruits with that I consider a friend is Rich. I met Rich through another forum, we basically became friends before we met. I fondly remember meeting him in Weston Super Mare when he had some strange multicoloured streaks in his hair, I had my red Honda Civic Type R back then.
I do consider a few people on here to be friends, though I have never met them. I guess the other people I have met and done machines with are not really friends, even the ones who have loaned me money in the past.
Harry seems a very nice fellow, I am sure Mr. Lugsy and JG are too. At least they have tried to help me recently and have always been people I address other concerns to.
In the real world, however, there are some nasty pieces of work I know. People think I am friends with them but I know what they are and what they want. Seriously speaking, apart from the 2 I mentioned on my Goodbye thread, I have been a massive asset to everyone who has dealt with me. I will straighten things out with the other 2 lads, I owe it to them to do so. But there are people who have made minimal effort and profited from my gambling problems immensely, lined their pockets thanks to me who now don't want to know about my problems. They will simply brush me aside now as yet another supply they drained for all they could and move on to their next source to drain. I hope they enjoy feeding while it lasts, I just know that what goes around does come around eventually.
In my best times, I know I was an admirable person, I have helped many unfortunate people to scales people would call insane but it made me feel good to do it, its a sense of humanity you get, a fulfilment which can't be equalled to know you helped someone when no one else could or would. I would rather give a few grand to someone who really needs it when I have surplus cash than spunk it away in some roulette machine or casino, that's for sure.
So when does a friend become a friend? When you've had a meal with them? Backed them up in a fight? Can fruity players really be classed as friends if all you do is punt together and have meals on your runs?
Although Rich and I often don't see eye to eye, I do view him as a friend.
