MAYGAY Coronation Street machine

Post by Bob216 »

Hello

I have recently found a Maygay coronation street fruit machine in my Brother's store room when we were clearing it out after his pub was closed down.

It does not seem to be working and although power is getting through, does not allow any playing etc - lights flicker on and off and then it sort of closes down. It is also a little bit damaged on the rear door due to damp storage conditions. The front and sides appear to be OK.

My question is, does it have enough value for me to bother trying to get someone to refurbish it? Would that be cost effective? What value would a fully working machine of this type have? Maybe I should just get rid of it at the local dump?

Any advice would be appreciated.

in all seriousness m8 , its not worth your time and effort ,,,,,,,,,,,,, even fully restored it wouldn't be worth much more than 40-80 quid top's

if you could get it fixed on the cheap , probably keep it at home in the living room as a entertainment/moneybox/ornamental feature

but if it were mine , the dump sounds like the best option

no way, id say bang it on ebay as collection only. Even if you get £20 its free money

I'd try just keeping it in the dry for a while and try some water displacement on the circuitry... known things to start working, though since you powered it up in a damp condition it could be that you have caused untold damage and its value is pretty much zero if there is anything wrong with it.

leave it outside your house mate, the tatters will soon take it away for you

Maybe consider keeping/restoring it for use in period dramas. Surely we aren't too far from there being a market for this?

Fill it with explosives and blow it up, make it a 1000's hit on youtube, that will have greater value than the machine if working.

Thanks for the entertaining advice :D . As its not worth the bother to repair it, off to the skip we go as it takes up too much room.

stick it on ebay as spares or repairs. as someone said above if someone needs a part they will bite your hand off. Maygay parts are pretty rare now so its worth a go. Hell someone may just need the decals, in which case its worth trying. and if noone wants it all you lost is 5 minutes typing the description on ebay. if someone does want it, free money!
