Anybody see Sunday mirror about 300 bent skill roulettes they had fitted with “black boxes" across the country? Bloke got 8yrs for it last week

Here is a link to an article about it. Although it was actually only 8 months he got.

Essentially he operated hundreds of skill roulette machines without a licence, as he claims they were not games of chance and didnt need one. He was wrong.

Makes me laugh how the GC will investigate when it comes to license dodging etc, but not when illegal programs are mentioned.

No different to FOBTs in bookies, yet the GC wouldn't dare have a go at companies with deep pockets.

by definition every gaming machine of this type has a "black box" its what holds the program that controls the game and the %.

the law that was not broken by having a % controlled game, just not having it licensed as a cat C.

as for this being the same as a fobt, that is compleatly wrong, an fobt never attempts to represent the games as skill based, rather random games of chance

Its not illegal to have % based games, just so long as its clearly stated and licensed as.

unless you can give an example of a unlawful program(you describe as illegal)?

No different as in bent practices. Do the GC audit the bookies? The bookies rely on FOBTs to make any profit. The bookies analyse FOBT data continuously to ensure profits are consistent. The games have been tightened up in terms of payout profiles. Playing to a payout profile is not random. The bookies get away with this because people still unquestioningly believe the machines are random. Why? Because the bookies tell them so. You have to laugh.

plenty of illegal programs out there Russ.

i played 2 at the weekend , one after the other. tbf they were in the players favour though as both gave features that went over the allowed jpt without credit breaking.

i would assume BGM is talking about stuff that clearly never meets an advertised %
