76% in all Spoons now.
Thoughts?
Do we think this is a response to less play? Or just general greed?

Really? I've seen all the big companies in Spoons now operating on 76%

They're all 74% where I usually am, both back at home and when I'm at uni. Occasionally find a 78% one. Think one or two machines slipped through at 76 but very rare indeed for me to find one.

76% seems to be the norm in most Spoons from what I can see now, and a few on 74% (mainly Lloyds). I'm just glad there are actually still machines on 76% as the number of pubs i've seen drop to 74% within the last 12 months is somewhat alarming, surely such a dire %age is greed, it's not exactly the best way to look after the regulars who like a dabble on the machines.

end of the day the % don't matter so long as you play when 100% plus is possible

This isn't right.
Firstly, the amount of times 100% plus is possible is reduced with a lower %.
Secondly, when 100% plus is possible it'll still be x% less with a lower %.

70% fruits play awful compared to 76%. Ain't that the truth?

Lots of machines in the past may of played awful on 70%, but then again they didn't seem to be to nice to causals all the same, just have to be approached with more caution.
I'm talking some years ago when the jackpots where lower, with some on 70% the streak pot was still there to be played for, generally the low percentage stopped the machine getting buzzed up and the chance of casuals getting the jackpot and starting the streak was pretty much none exsistant.

does not matter if theres less chances at getting over 100%, what crucial is the playing when it can be obtained.
take LOTR on £25 jp, whether it was on 70% or 82% it still saved a 4xIM JP boards.
maybe my approach is wrong, but if the machine has already taken the money to pay out, the payout is capped, therefore it does not matter unless you play after obtianing the %.... recycling and reforcing on low % of course would be quickly noticed.
