O/T ebay ideas

Post by jeffvickers »

Theres probably a lot of players who struggle to make money these days. I hold my hand up and its just not worth it anymore. The way I'm carrying on, I'll end up spunking away my savings and need to make some money legitimately. Can anyone suggest some decent wholesalers of PS3, wii games etc. They do sell well on ebay, especially the wii games, but my internet search of decent suppliers appears to have drawn a blank.

Any suggestions?

I know someone who buys/sells games and consoles on ebay. He does very well out of it, but says the money has dried up a bit as people catch on. Its not something i'd throw myself into without knowing what I was doing. Its like a non player waking up one day and saying 'fuck it, i'm going to make a living playing those fruit machine thingys you see in pubs'. My friend relies on peoples desperation, such as someone selling an xbox with 20 games for £200 or something. He'll snap it up, then relist all the bits seperately and make a tidy profit. Before xmas he overheard someone saying they were going to sell their special edition xbox, one of very few made, to pay for xmas presents and the like. My friend waltzed over and offered the person £500 cash, and literally waved the notes in his face. Once the sale had been made he rushed home and put it on ebay where it quickly attracted bids of over a grand.

It eventually sold for nearly £3000.

You've got to be pretty clued up to make a success of it, another time he bought something and requested it be sent by recorded delivery, and included the money to cover it. The person sending the item thought they'd be clever and simply just send it normally and keep the money. Once it arrived my friend rang the original seller and said it hadn't turned up yet, and asked for the tracking number so he could find out where it was. Because it wasn't sent via recorded delivery as requested there was no tracking number, so my friend simply contacted paypal or ebay and explained the situation, they ruled in his favour, so he got it all for nothing. The person wasn't happy but didn't have a leg to stand on.

All rather amusing.

You need a new angle, something that nobody else is doing. Not having a go, but with the current economic situation, luxuries are the first thing to see sales fall. I'm considering either starting or investing into a new venture, but definitely am going to delay it until the world recovers from the recession.

I presume Jeff is talking about making an income in addition to his government subsidy (JSA, Housing Benefit, Concil Tax Benefit etc)?

no doubt cloud based servers from many companies will spring up in the next few years ,,,,,,, and if pricing is right ,,,,,,,,,,, im sure it will be big .

but , ,,,,,,,,,, people wont have a physical cd of the game ,,,,,,,,, so you can forget trading it in ,,,,,,, or selling it to ya m8's etc,,,,,,,,

ps3 and xbox (although not cloud based) ,,,,,,, already give you the option to download full price retail games direct to your hard drive etc ,,,,,,,,,,,,, but for the reasons above i prefer the physical copy.

also ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, there would be no second hand market ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,so they will have you by the balls when it comes to price ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, you either pay what their asking , or your screwed.

and trust me sony hasn't got a clue when it comes to pricing ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, one of the new releases on the playstation store right now costs an astounding £57.99 wtf ??? lol ,,,,,,,, i can pay £40 for it in town and/or less at asda etc ,,,,,,,,,,,,, and get at least a tenner back trade in ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, why would you pay £57.99 online ,,,,,,,,,,, something amiss here ??? ,,,,,,,,,,,, is that price meant to fall in with a collective european average or something ????

anyhow no doubt onlive is the logical future ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, but its getting ridiculous ,,,,,,,,,, the game shops would eventually be phazed out or struggle like cd sales have , and force even more high st closures ,,,,,,,,,,, more people losing their jobs etc,,,,,,

so back to the op ,,,,,,,and the future,,,,,,,,,,,,, now is not the time to invest in physical software ,,,,,,,,,,,, and theres gonna be less and less jobs ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

you can join me on my park bench bud ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, can i interest you in either a bottle of domestos or a razor blade ?

lee. :P

Society is getting lazier or the hard workers have less spare time which all points to online shopping booming.
To shop online requires delivery

So get yourself a licence & cheap to run reliant vehicle and there's easy work everywhere unless you hate driving.

Obviously only really applicable to us old cunts, not some of the young pubs with 3k insurance to find

Here's an idea that I've been mulling awhile - the ethical side of it is pending.

Advertise a pill on Ebay for £1,000 that will GUARANTEE the sex of your baby. Offer a full money back guarantee if they don't get the sex they want.

They ask for a boy. Send them a blue sugar pill. For a girl, have a pink one.

Wait nine months. Out it pops. If it's the type they requested, they're chuffed to bits and tell all their friends.

If it misses, send them a £1000 back and just to keep them sweet, chuck in a couple of nappies and a Mothercare voucher.

YOU CANNOT LOSE.

Can't remember how to embed, but this sums it up in 30 seconds.
