Licencing shake up ?

Have heard from a friend that there is going to be a big shake up with the licencing laws in the autumn. The monthly/annual fees are to be replaced by another method. Can not find any info in the press or HMRC/GBGB sites and it seems mad that the government would change from it's current lucrative revenue provider.
Anyone know if there is any susbstance in this ?

I've heard they are going to be replaced themselves by a new organisation, to be called HEEBGB.

Frightening thought.

Theres been a lot of talk in coinslot about this, the treasury is planning on bringing in MGD , (Miller Genuine Draft springs to mind), but no this is Machine Gaming Duty and will replace AMLD tax and VAT. The effect will be that the profit of the machine will be taxed rather than the operator paying the AMLD flat fee per machine plus the VAT to the treasury. A lot fairer system in many respects.

Thanks.

Similar to what happened in the bookmaking industry then.

Watch out, they will be charging National Insurance and Pay As You Earn on winnings soon.

There's a little about what might be coming in this film from the BBC News website:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-14626999

Warning : includes scenes of a non-gaming nature, including a rather vicious donkey towards the end...
