How much would it take for you to quit playing machines FT?
Simple question, how much would it take for you to be offered for a job for you to quit playing (fulltimers here obv)?
And how much are you actually enjoying playing at the moment?
Whilst I'm sure most people who have been doing it for a good few years just treat it as a grind with little enjoyment - anyone different here? And even for the grinders, are you enjoying it less now than ever before?
I know I am. Stress caused from landlords/punters/machines being floated with £20/machines being very luck orientated at the moment (deals in particular) makes me want to knock it all on the head. I give as good as I get but I just cant be arsed with it any more. I know it's part and parcel of things but it's worse than ever these days. I'm not going to give up until I can earn a wage equivalent to my machine income but being brutally honest I fucking hate playing at the moment!

Mr McStreak
I quit playing full-time 2 months ago when I got offered bar work til the end of summer. The money is poor and in all honesty i've never been more skint, but i'm working with a great bunch of people and feel far better for it and enjoy my free time more.
After the summer i'll see if my enthusiasm for slotting has been rejuvenated, and if it hasn't i'll find other work.
I've had to cut right back on luxuries and i'm far less frivilous with my money as a result, but i'm a happier person.

I don't think you'll ever come across a person who quite playing full time who says they wish they hadn't.
It's so nice not to have to go into pubs all day long and put up with ill-educated morons with their unfounded suspicions marinated in green-eyed jealousy.
Slotting is best done as a part time endeavour. You'll re-enter normal society (it has it's downside, but more pros than cons), gain loads more free time and more self respect.

£200 a day is quite easy to make from fruit machines a day and you get to do what you ant all day too.
i voted £400 on this basis.
the truth is that playing is too easy and working is following someone elses rules.
id take a job at £400 a day anytime lol

Silent you say you can do what you want and to a certain extent that is true based on being able to go to work when you want but you've got a ton of other factors to mix in with that - for example I'm sure you cant just walk into any pub where you live?!
If there was no hassle I'd agree with what you say though.

it helps if you have a chat with the staff and buy them a drink,
sometimes its best to tell them your a player and sometimes you lose,
sometimes its good to say you enjoy playing a machine but after you have won you need to change pub to save yourself from putting it back in the same machine.
sometimes you need to tell them what forcing is, you play for jackpot only and sometimes it costs £120 for 70 and other times it only costs £40 for 70.
if you just roll in and roll out again you get hassle and barrings,
thats how comes we know about the dig it you do, we spoke to the landy for about 30min to sweeten it for times to come.
we try all we can to get along with the staff and we do sweet,
we pay them off or just talk to them and they tell us if the machines been had or not.
we still get shit on a rare occasion in a new area but its rare.
i hope thing keep rolling on well for players as i dont want a job yet :/

Mr McStreak
I took a look at my life, i'm 32 and my life hasn't changed at all in the last 10 years or so, because i've always been distracted by making money, which i'd normally squander on drugs, alcohol, casinos and expensive clothes. Before I quit drinking i'd get away with doing fire hits because i'd be sufficiently emboldened by alcohol to withstand any abuse I got. Sober I just can't be bothered with it, so rather than risk a bit of grief for a decent profit i'd not go in. When you get to that stage you know you are in the wrong game. Also I stopped learning how to play machines properly, just wasn't interested, whereas before i'd enjoy learning games inside out, and work stuff out for myself.sir ratholer wrote:Fair play mate.
I wish I could do the same thing, but I can't afford to drop below x wage per day as i need to support my family.
Out of interest why did you make the change? Just a lack of enthusiasm or was there more to it than that?
This a game for the disciplined, enthusiastic and business minded amongst us. I'm none of those things, thats why I quit. I could work something out tomorrow that could make me £50k, but once it gets out and i've got to start fighting with other players for the same money... fuck that.
You need to be thick skinned if you play for a living, and in the current climate its impossible to go out for a day without getting banned and getting grief off locals and landlords.
i dont claim nothing.Oddfeet63 wrote:Haven't you said in the past you claim lots of benefits?silent g wrote:ive worked as a roofer, welder, joiner, and barman, i make more money as a player working my own hours.Oddfeet63 wrote:Some are lazy bastards who doss in bed all day who use the "work ya own hours excuse" but I think deep down there shit scared of a days graft IMO

To be fair silent I do all those things, but some places you are gonna get barred no matter what!
The problem is now reliable games are short on the ground you are tempted to hammer them more, which I guess got me the trouble in there...
When you play fruits day in day out going to the same pubs you'll realise that you can't be saved from barrings no matter what.
