Seen/heard that a lot of chip shops, cafes, kebabs them sort of places are having machines in them lately.....my undertanding was that these sort of places were not aloud machines anymore. Has the law changed or are more and more business owners willing to take a risk for the rewards, my aunt owed a cafe before and she had 2 machines sited that took a fair bit of money over the course of a week

Are they AWP's or SWP's? I know loads of kebab houses etc that have SWP's and they should by law have the certificate next to it somewhere on the wall. The law hasn't changed but you can have AWP's if you pay a set amount each year for a license.

Places did house AWP'S, but most didn't bother because the fees were far to high. If somewhere is, they should have a visible certificate on the wall for both an AWP and an SWP.

Only AWP allowed in a kebab shop is a £5 JP Cat D. anything over it and they have to be an over 18's only premises and have the relevant licences e,t,c

So yes they have effectively been banned but the authorities aren't exactly clamping down. Ive got 2, 1 with a cliffhanger the other with Big Cheese both £25 JP

I think since the new law was introduced there has been a bit of confusion as to who is respsonsbile for enforcing it. In some areas there is virtually no enforcement all. And with local authority spending cuts it is not likely to get any better. There was a piece about it in this week's Coinslot.

I dont think there are any awp's allowed in any premises such as chip shops ,cafe, kebab shop or taxi office ,only swps or or quiz games as these are skill and not gambling as an awp is regardless of price of play or jackpot

Cat D have no age limit. Thats why kids can play them at arcades, bowling alleys and Kebab shops. Max 10p stake and max 5 pound jackpot isnt classed as gambling in the eyes of the law

I'm sure it's no fruits full stop unless you have a permit ,and chippy's and kebab houses, taxi offices, cafes etc can no longer get a permit.so if sited they are unlawful even if it's a 2p one arm bandit.

Most of these places round my way have bullshit skill games and that crappy dond swp or paragons in.these are fine.
