Ok guys, I am a big Chess enthusiast and I play maybe once a week in different places all over Merseyside. I started at the age of about six and when I was ten I won the English Chess Championships for that age group, but as of yet not gained a recongnised title from FIDE :x Anyway, we have this game somewhere in Wales in a Legion and I don't really slot when I am playing, but this guy was taking all day over the moves and I had noticed one of them simulated fruits outside with a £500 jackpot. So, I stroll outside the room and think "yeah, I have a bluey in you to kill some time" and start playing it. Now I can't remember exactly, but I think I was playing 30p stake (need 50p stake for max jackpot) and all these red 7s came in on every single line from a bluey! I watched the machine fill up the cashpot to £150! I press collect and the fucker prints me off a ticket to collect the winnings at the bar. I sit down and read the back of the ticket which clearly states "You MUST be a long term member at this club to claim any prizes", Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! I go back in the chess room and pull this old skool member who is playing chess and say "Hey mate, if I give you £20 of this ticket will you claim it for me at the bar?", now never believe anyone who tells you chess players are intellectuals, they are fucking stupid! After him going "hmmm, haaaar, what?" I thought "this guy is fucking stupid and is gonna cost mee it all here"

After brooding over it for some time I thought "fuck it, I will go up to the bar section and weigh up what the bird looks like". Luck of the draw here, you are getting sour grapes, I need a seeing to arsehole or someone safe as houses. I believed it was the second. I approach the bar and say to the girl "I have just won this love, will you change it for me and take a tenner for yourself?" I then thought "You're takin a chance son, you offered the daft fucker downstairs 20, this might not be enough here"

ops: "of course love, thankyou" she said! I felt like shagging here on the spot guys!

For anyone interested, I lost the chess match and frankly didn't give a shit.

Glad you got paid out, it's a bit of a liberty having that printed on the ticket, but not on the machine for example, to stop you playing it in the first place. If that had been me and they'd refused to pay me out anything would have been liable to happen.

It did say it on the machine also Mr Mcstreak, but I never botherd looking because I honestly didn't think I would get anything from a fiver.

Highest I have been on the ECF ratings list is 178 George. No FIDE rating because I don't get the chance to play in International events with work and all.

For anyone who enjoys the game, check out the link. It is a little advanced but for someone with a rating like yours George, you won't struggle at all.

I can get a stalemate with anyone, but I've fuck all chance of winning a game. Why is that?
Think maybe I'm setting myself up for some insults here but who cares?

The members can play rule is a joke in some places. My mate worked in a tesco ages back and as I knew the mgr I could sometimes sit in the staff canteen and wait for him. One day I did ~£70 in the fruit and the mgr just chuckled. A week of playing this occasionally I dropped the £250 and then suddenly the staff decided to uphold the rules???
I did offer the generous deal that if they refund the money I had lost then I would return the jp.... Sadly nobody accepted

Stevie, I was actually nervous for you reading that, until you dropped the good news at the end. Congrats on the win and for finding someone to cash it in for you. Great read.
