Your Playing Activity

Post by AMK »

I'm sure this has been discussed at great length in the past, but hey peoples lives/opinions change. How many of you are treating this as a 9-5? A 7 day bender or the odd weekend punt? Who plays alone? Do you play them with your wife/mate/uncle/dog/cat?

I myself, play Monday to Friday with one late night per week to allow for 'the big route'. I cover all my routes with a friend. I think we do well but the effort and travel has to be there.

Estimated hours a week: 50 hours :)

How do you play yours?

I couldn't tell you how many hours a week I do, probly between 30-100.

Some weeks I will do over 12 hours a day for 7 days. But if i'm in a lazy mood, I'll normaly just pop out for 4-5 hours just to get some beer money for the rest of the day.

When I 1st started, probably 80 hours a week! 2000-2009 about 40-70 a week, less and less basically. Now not many but enough to cover some vital hits.

I say work like a dog when times are great, then when times are bad you can then take it easy, have a healthy/balanced lifestyle. But make sure the missus/family/friends/pet understand that what your doing its only short term and you'll treat them for loss of quality time once it's over.

Sorry guys (This could cause a slaggin match) been playing fruits on and off for over 30yrs,why do people now refer to it as work this is really annoying,Understood its how we make a living but work ffs...Traveling from pub to pub with the occasional arcade and maybe in some cases bookmakers does not compare to an actual job,we do not pay Tax or NI and dont recieve holiday pay or overtime, half the gamblers i know recieve JSA or some form of benefit still refer to it as work...Just cant weigh it up..And notice in my post i use the term(We) meaning a collective group rather than singling anyone out...Whats your views.......

We have disucssed this before. To claim JSA you need to available for and actively looking for work. Additionally for the means-tested version which most people are on you need to have less than £6k in liquid assests to claim the full amount on a sliding scale down to nothing if you have £16k

..So why should people work for 5.95 or whatever minimum wage is now per hour when they can make more from playing a fruit machine....2 words.. Work and playing mmmm....

At 1st its fun, when winning isn't expected, you enjoy the chores of winning. Then you get sick an tired, there's no real sense of gambling or uncertainty - overall. That's when it became work to me. I'd rather not do it than go out and spend what I earn, for example whereas before I'd see playing as the equivalent of going out and having fun.

Well what has that got to do with JSA? JSA is not meant as a subsidy from the tax payer to people who can make a tax-free income in the black economy. LOL

..Nothing just a blatent point ...being if you class yourself as working then why claim jsa or benefits , point being i know people who say am off out to work who claim jsa its just wrong. Now if you say am off out playing for the day to make some extra cash 4 whateva then fair enough....

I too have never claimed a penny but to be honest, the way this country is going these days, I think that's a waste. Labour have fucked this country and in come the coalition to tell us we have to pay for the mess they made. Brown with his no boom and bust speeches, fucking disgrace. The world is now laughing at the UK, Eastern Europeans work here but say its shit and their country is much better (whichever one they are from) It's all become a joke. Racial tension on the rise because the ethics have no clue how to get their points across without screaming, shouting and declaring war on anyone who's not one of them. The whole "them" and "us" state of affairs, its just wrong. Either integrate or fuck off, that's what I say. Have your beliefs, your traditions, whatever and enjoy free speech but don't go trying to change this country because its not yours. If you want to change things, try doing it back at home where you'll get shot, hanged or just locked up. Then what are you going to do, come back and claim asylum???

Wow, I do go on a bit when I'm bored...
