How private is a PM really???

Post by Master of Games »

If Moderators can alter our posts, how private are our PMs? Can they read our PMs? Surely they can! Can someone set the record "straight" here please?

Yep, PM's are exactly what they say on the tin - Private Messages.

Nobody except the sender and recipient can see what content they hold.

Competely private, the only thing a Admin can do is disable PM's

It's to do with data protection act.

I may start sending "test" PMs where I write terrible things about mods, just to check!

I'm a moderator on another phpBB forum (same software as Fruit Chat's), and I certainly can't see private messages. Moderators can drop notes against somebody's name for other mods to see, normally used to monitor troll behaviour.

Only 2 ways to see other peoples p.ms

1 . You show them yourself.

2. You are a mug with your log in details.

lol well if you could I would so love to wipe that smile off his face in light of his total arrogance ever since, harping on about getting 75% of the vote when he only got 70% etc. Strange how few people voted no, it seemed to me the whole board bar 1 or 2 hated the bloke!

Its more of a standing joke i reckon, the more you give him grief the more people jump to his defence i think, he's only after a reaction but he aint so bad, try him, you might like him
