Hard drivin was always a personal fav of mine, im sure most will remember it, old thing seen in many an arcade when i was a youngen, i think the reason it was so inviting was because not only did it have a proper manual gearbox and a clutch pedal, it also had an ignition turn to start just like a real car, at the age of about 10 that was just so incredibly cool!
if i ever see one anywhere these days that it still in service i will have a go on it without a doubt, just for the nostalgia.

Is Vigilante on there? I couldn't stop thinking about this when I was kid. Totally mesmerised by it.

Vigilante was a great game, but my personal favourites were,
Pac-land
Slap Fight
Kung fu Master
Xain'd Sleena (Soldier Of Light)
Shinobi
Bubble Bobble
Frogger
Golden Axe
Football Champ
Elevator Action
Robocop
Rolling Thunder
Plus many more I can't remember.
Having all your favourites from past decades on one wonderful machine sounds like a great way to spend £500, an absolute bargain in fact. If I had my own house i'd buy one straight away, but I don't have my own house. Come to think of it I don't even have £500!

I used to be able to complete Pole Position in the arcade, and also Wonder Boy which was a platform game.
Got close to completing Mortal Kombat which was my favourite game for a good few years.

re: the harrods jobby
if you go down the official retail shop route ,,,,,, ie harrods , selfridges , john lewis ,, your paying 1000+ for something with only 100 odd games on it , from usually only one company , ,,,,,,, so for instance , it may be made by taito and have all taito games on it , officially licensed , no copyright issues , nice but,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
why bother ?
small traders on ebay , make up systems like mine , ,,,,,, which has all games from taito + sega , capcom , neo geo etc etc .
beware when buying though , make sure you've read how many games are actually on the thing ,,,,,,,,, some will try to sell with as little as 50 on it
mine has just over 3500 on it , but there are many revision's , different world territory versions , updates ,,,,,,, and a lot of obscure japanese puzzle games that require a doctorate in japanese to understand em,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, so actual games is closer to 3000 , , , still immense i think you'll agree.
every game loads within 10 seconds , from a very comprehensive menu allowing you to select alphabeticly , by manufacturer , by year of release etc , and most games have there own sub menu with brief history of the game , pictures and scans of the original magazine advertising flyers etc , button layouts etc
also if possible when buying , go view it first , ,,,,, you want to make sure all buttons , joysticks , speakers etc are in perfect order ,
other than that , happy gaming and good luck with your search.
lee.
ps , i genuinely mean it , when i say it has been the best 500 spend on any item in my life ever.
