Its looking like us players are going to be phased out in 2011, so what will everyone do?

Personally Im going to look at trying my luck abroad somewhere for a few years, maybe Canada or USA. Got to say without the fruits, things won't seem so rosy in the UK anymore.

People have been predicting the end of the world for the last 10,000 years LOL.

There was a time before anyone could make money out of fruit machines and there will be a time after. But I would cross that bridge when you get there.

When SWP's switched in the early 00s from standalones to networked software driven multi-game terminals some people managed to make the transition to what was a drastically changed situation. Others who had been making decent money out of standalones for years couldn't cut it in the new environment and gave up.

I would wait and see what new any situation involves before you write it off.

What exactly is it that you have heard? I'm not aware of any new forthcoming legislation and for something revolutionary that comes into force only next year seems a bit strange. I remember reading the proposals for the Gambling Act 2005 2+ years before it was implemented and thinking to myself, that'll be the end of fruits in bookies then, and sure enough it was. But, as I said, there was still two years before the revised act came into force and, even then, the best part of 6-12 months after before the bookies phased the fruits out. Pubs remained largely unchanged and arcades were on a steady decline anyway.

My money would be on some form of random implementation, but can't see it being lo-tech style games as they consistently perform poorly when tested in pubs. Nevertheless, i'm always up for a new challenge. I remember thinking the game was over when JPM went a bit rubbish..........
