Retyrement!

Post by Glendale »

Am i in a minority whos genuinly hacked off with all the abuse/grief at the moment? I know a top respected player who quit last week as well as hes made good money and has just had enough! I have some good pubs who know what i do and have no problem but mostly its awful!

Had one last week where the guy nearly duffed up my pals who were with me (they were only having a pint!) as apparently they were my 'guards' whilst I 'scammed' his Amazing & ESB.

I've a family now and have to consider that. Even when just playing 'leisurely' as in not for a living I still get a lot of aggro. It comes down, surely, to the fact that there's not 'that much' money floating about for the majority of people, yet they see us draining £70 sheets out of all and sundry and get the hump.

Mmmmmm........Sittin an office/warehouse/factory for 8 hours a day knowing that in just a couple of rips/minutes u could equal ur earnings.

As long as there are still playables and there are, you've just got to get off ur arse and hunt them down, I'll never entertain the idea of working full time.

If and when it goes tits up, I've enough of a working background to slip back into the working world. In the process boring myself shitless.

There is no way I could work full time, knowing there Is better money to be made in a 3rd of the time, in ur own time doing as u please.

The reason is, all the playables now are sited in non-chain small pubs, where they are much more interested in the machines and what they are paying out!

The thing is, that if a pro wins the money they will scarper with it, wheras a local wins it and he will spend the money over the bar....

Considering the hard times, especially for these smaller pubs, they really need every bit of profit they can get, and pro's are just not what the doctor ordered in that sense eh; even more so, they might think you are fiddling it, ie. there has been empties in the past, which would do them out of yet more cash!!

Until a newer breed of playables come in (if they do), then the heat wont go down!

What he said.

We got barred from a boozer sometime last year, we were passing recently, and my playing partner saw someone he knew, we got chatting and it turns out he now runs this pub, he knows what we do and we often see him around whilst on the punt in various boozers, he always gives us a sly wink and theres always the "fair play to ya"comments, he's got a
Lep and an Alien in, we got 2 out of both, next thing hes ringing my mate up saying were ripping him off

Then yesterday i arranged to pick Martin up and drive him over there, i'll wait in the bookies next door, someone spotted me, next thing the gaffers in, "hes with you" "you can't kid a kidder" etc, so hes barred, luckily he managed to scrape level before the power cut, everyones on there arse and money is tight, its a constant battle to stop getting barred, i really look after my hits, proper drinks, food, pool, sit down and chat for ten minutes, not much more you can do.

Agreed OB. But if u change ur tactics, u can make those pubs think ur semi regular who likes a punt.

You see the problem is, how many people on here, go in said pubs and don't even play the machine in between hits? How many put notes across the bar, how many entertain chat with workers landlords? How many order a but of grub now and again? Even change some coins back up? Slow play the money out? Slow play the money in?

Half the people moaning and complaining have half a coke/J2O and leave. Some fuckwits don't even bother with a drink!! I mean come on!!

Yes there are the extremists who kick u out no matter what u do, but most if treated and played correctly don't give a shit. Plus if u play out the scenario correctly will none the wiser anyway.

Im in my "lucky pub" now! Did the dead mans, had a meal with the wife and a couple of drinks, chat with grumpy landlord and all sweet but been here an hour and a half! Do that everywhere and you will be a 30 stone alcoholic and fit in about 4 pubs a day!

Yes mate, that's it. The landlord in there is more than fine, but this 'kid' who was 'in charge' that particular time was going overboard. :(

Talking of pillocks and acting, I ventured into the Yacht last night, at about 19:30 and successfully played the SaP and TIOLI without that bloke-who-likes-to-think-he's-boss coming over my way once. I did a lot of dumb-acting (no-one mention that shouldn't take too much effort! ;) )
