Gambling's got to her head

Post by Mr Move It »

I was in one of my local arcades yesterday with my usual £20 budget, playing the AWPs. The Juggling Jackpots £25 that I was playing, was facing a middle-aged woman playing Reel King on a £500 section 16 machine about 6 feet away. Even with my bad eyesight, I noticed that the woman managed to get the Reel King feature and the screen was all purple i.e. 5 purple curtains. In the Skyvegas version, I know that 5 men is essentially jackpot. Surely enough, after a few minutes of spins, I saw a big "£500" on the woman's S16 screen.

If I was this lady, I would have walked away with £500 in notes. But no, she shuffled her chair slightly so that it was now inbetween two section 16s - the original one playing Reel King and the next one which was playing Rainbow Riches. Now she's playing 2 machines simultaneously! After half an hour, I left the arcade about £6 down so not too bad. Even if she did have some of the £500 left by the end of yesterday, I dread to think how much this has gotten into her head now. The irony of this story is the fact that you don't fail to see A4 notices stuck all over the arcade cautioning the players "not to let winnings get to your head" :-)

its the worst thing in the world for anyone to win 500 on one of these bags of shite .

because thats gonna make you go back for more , and in the longterm your gonna do all your savings .

better to do your brains the first time you go on one,,,,,, you'll be better off longterm.
Little discipline = BIG issue

Especially with the different settings eg (Soft/Hard) 1 pays out smaller wins more often and not the 500, the other can pay out the 500,unless you know the difference can be very costly.I have seen s16 take thousands over a 3 year period without i 500 payout and apparently there is no law against it as advertising says win upto 500.Best advice if you play these is dont even bother i got done for nearly 2k please dont follow my footsteps.........

Sound advice :-)

I never really jumped to any other form of gambling other than AWPs apart from 2 rows of lottery numbers every Saturday. I have played a £70 jackpot version of Reel King. I'm not sure what category machine that is. Other than that, I've played 4 clubbers but not touched one for 3½ years. So I'm thankful that I'm only really interested in AWPs, mainly the £25 jp ones.

On a similar note to the woman in my first post, I have occasionally seen people play 2 adjacent AWPs simultaneously. I don't know why they do that.

The only way to play Reel King, Triple 777s etc etc is with a crowbar, angle grinder and a sledgehammer. Otherwise, stay away.
