Just a quick heads up for any of you's who have lots of coins you want changing into notes, Leicester Forest East services on the M1 has a machine that changes your coins up into notes, you basically pull this door open and load up your coins (got around £200 in no danger) shut the door and it automatically counts them for you and spits the notes out the bottom. I would imagine you would find these in many services but i've not looked.

i'd only risk putting 10 in at a time i think.

just imagine the scenario where you load in a b3 drop and the note cassette gets jammed ,lo and behold there is nobody on site and they tell you to give the office a bell ,engineer turns up next day and mysteriously deems nothing to be wrong. :x

These have been around for a while now. Many welcome breaks have them. As do galas and beacons. Nice way of gettin rid of coins.

A few years ago I decided to cash my coins in the changer in Oxford services. I loaded up a few hundred then the machine fucked up and was asked to fill in the usual Pay-You-Never form. "No chance!" I said.
"I'll wait for the engineer".

After chasing a claim for a poxy £13 for months, I wasn't prepared to go through that again.

A couple of hours and the guy turned up and sorted it out so it was ok.

These are switched off after dark, no good if you've finished your graft

As most banks charge about £1.60 per £100 changed for Business Current Accounts these machines would easily pay for themselves within a few months. Hopefully more will spring up around the country. Stops you walking down the street with bulging pockets.

I find it a lot better to just put them straight in to the bank. At least that way they are going to get saved and not wasted. And most of them changers charge.

The reason for that is it costs them a £5 for every £500 coins!
