I was in a wetherspoon in Kirkby, Merseyside visiting a friend. Since I had no change I put a £20 into the note acceptor, it started to churn away and said note mech error, so I went to the bar and told them. They took my name and number, and said that the enginerr would be called out and when he came, he would find the money and leave it for you to return and collect.
I gave them a few days, and called back only to be told that the engineer had been out and couldn't find the note

, so I left it a few more days and they still said that nothing had been found, and since then the machine had been changed??
Despite the shocking customer service I recieved in the interim period (which wetherspoon are dealing with, thankfully), I just wondering what the legal/otherwise stance was on trying to get the £20 back.
It had gone in the machine and cctv shows it. I have been told by the manager that it isn't her responsabilty. what do you think?
Thanks
