Welcome to the world of "Club" style game play. When I started back in 98, if you wanted to bet big you went to Reilys (Electra cabinet Casino Crazy, Barcrest Trailblazer etc) and a fun bet was the £15's.

Clubs have always played the same, you might hit a £50/£75 win on the off chance off something small. Maybe force a buzzing Cash beast for the flash and £48 win after.

People could hit 11 heaven, get the 5 grails, cancel the cooling towers on meltdown etc - They really did think they were good and came back

Fast forward 12 years on and we have DOND which when I worked in a pub, we would tell the driver to leave the Bellfruit in the van and stick a Vivid / Barcrest in as avergae people can win.

DOND = £ PLUMS or Jackpot most times, no fun

I loved the days when you had a decent day out on the fruits.

As a none pro but better than average player £20 in a re-shell cabinet game with no board and turned off sound effects isnt what AWP stands for.

Surely if Joe Punter doesn't play any more, then pro players suffer because machines are going to get replenished. Twenty years ago pubs had four quid jackpots and clubs two hundred. Now it's 70 and 250. No amusement for pub players.

I think what hes trying to say dean is that surely the average punter must be getting hacked off with donds as there boring as fuck! At least old machines like big brother, revolution, ceasers had a bit of game play for the average punter to enjoy and get them to play again, even after they were smashed! Now we do a machine and punters dont get a board for £20 or more!

Unfortunately £50 in anything these days is small fry.

I mean even as players ur at least £50 in or close to that on many machines every day! - grids, electro's, reds even dig it wars when they wanna be a pain and this obviously all from ready!! Very rare something goes in cheap these days.

I dare to think what a random chaser with a wallet full of notes could lose? Ouch!!

yesterday , went in for an electro ,,,,,,,,,,, being played by a group of pub locals , (two in their painters n decorators garb etc,,,,, obviously clueless but they got an icon board which went for 140 ,( and left it obviously still showing for me to go on and make a further 50) ,,,,,, they were whooping and hollering , and generally pleased as punch .


about 2 weeks ago (when broad st brum spoons had a darts electro ) a similar thing happened , a group of 4or5 lads got a 140 off a perfect game .



now the first thought that goes through our minds is ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ffs sick as a parrot etc .

but its actually a good thing , because it enters the subconscious of the locals etc , that fruit machines arnt that bad afterall , that they can make a good profit from time to time.


And this keeps em playing ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, and pays our wages.

Yeah, DONDs are the best about for casuals I would say, if we are talking newer pub fruits. I played em yesterday, twice got on the board first pound, didn't make much but I dont really care. Then there's also the Go All The Ways that appear out of the blue, much like icon boards on Electros. Want one of them off beer change sometime!

I never begrudge obvious randoms winning on machines. I heard the cluntering of £5*14 on pub entry and looked around to see what I thought would look like a player. Nope, turned out to be a random puntationalist, who had fluked a natural, yes NATURAL £70 first board on a Can U Dig it?, didn't bother me, I was only in there for The Perfect Game.

I have seen with my own eyes £2 in for £140 Mr. B, so you never know, it could be you.

Was in a pub for a 70 suspects somone playing it ready as it can be just hi loing feature cash untill the genrel 3 8 9 collect. he ended up gettin nr with he steps up not holding anyfing and just steps up about 8 times for jp. remember was in a service about a year ago this guy on a starwars not collecting, look round as he gets a feature shot, wild streek. he collects i think oh must have a clue. looks at it for ages and misses the first one, walks off. lol
