Ah, Nottingham.

Where I was born and bred and cut my teeth on machines from yesteryear.
My mum used to cart me into the local Nobles .. then called Sun Valley when I was quite young.
Whilst she played the Super Nudge Gamblers I used to live for her getting the £2 Jackpot as she would give me 4x10p tokens which I used to put in stuff like Jitter Bug. They turned a blind eye to under age playing in those days. I'd play anything with the double or nothing gamble.
The arcade is still there as a Nobles these days, in Beeston. Over the years it's had some gems in. Sidewinder being a particular favourite. As I grew older I started going in by myself, mainly to play the era of games with some sort of skill trail - you know the type Cash Explosion / Double Chance etc. Also loved to push for the streak on the 7 heavens.
At around 11 years old a new arcade opened in Beeston called Stateside. Run by a surfer muscle boy, this place was to be my living quarters for a good 4 years. Win-a-gain, Masterspy, Aladdins Cave, Big Shot, Spoof, Melon Meters, you name it, they had it. If you skint yourself, you resorted to the video games, 4 player Hyper Sports was mint. I could play the Star Wars vector graphic version up to wave 99 no sweat, and Mr Do! was always fun, chasing that elusive free game diamond.
So it progressed, and I grew older and started playing the clubbers in the local working mens club. Ah, well if I knew the CPCB force and Cops n Robbers cashpot tricks then, I would have been a happy man. Particularly liked Club Blackjack and an old BFM called Juan Armed Bandit - Mexican stylie cat and mouse chase game.
Still have a punt round the arcades and pubs when I visit the Parents, but nothing like the old days playablity.

Do you have a proper Mame set up in a video cabinet ? - that would be cool !

I do have the PC discs for Dragons Lair/Space Ace and Dragons Lair II. Still can't finish the fookers.

Great posting KG, one of the best things I like to read on here is true cathartic expulsion of nostalgia. Those games are just a bit before my time really, I remember win-a-gain and spoof (quality game), also Coppa Pot and Supa Vault (JPM), not to mention Nifty Fifty and Super Jester.
I used to swear the gamble was true skill to a point of value on that Supa Vault.

Shouldn't that be apologies to anyone i've mentioned, and therefore exposed them as players operating in said area? If I was from Notts I would be mortified at having my name brought up!

Its not a popularity contest!

Sorry if I'm being a bit critical. I'm bored. Anyway MOTD is about to start, woo yeah!
