£35 jp

Yes, could well be true. It's a completely unfair and disproportionate rise though.
5p £5
10p £8
20p £15
25p/30p £25
50p £35
Almost 100% increase on the stake for about a 45% JP increase. That's so unfair its ridiculous. Imagine playing on Mega Spin with that! £20 gone in 1 minute anyone??

yea doesnt seem fair. but wouldnt a higher stake allow manufacturers to improve the dire play of machines?

I think 50p with £50 jp would be reasonable and in line with the current machines play.

Yeah, that would be a much fairer rise.

These are set by the Gonvernment, so it's not
entirely fair to blame the manufacturers! I'm sure they'd want to give bigger prizes and take more of our money if they could...
I heard that they were pushing for £50, seeing as it's been quite a while since the last rise, but £35 was all they got.

You do know that it was once set at £4.80, right?

It is faintly ridiculous.. after all, who's heard of a 35p (or a 30p) coin?
It works well in the industry's favour. Since a lot of people usually play with pound coins, when the stake is 30p, the player might have to put £3 in to get a round number of credits (and get his money worth).
Whereas 35p per play, the customer would have to put in
* furious calculations *
£7 to get his money worth.

50p play, £1 JPT anyone?
Its bad enough round here with the bowling alleys and the like with £5 JPT machines being set at 25p/30p

That is expensive! But does anyone not think that the ratio is now closer between credit and JP? This would (read: 'should') work in our favour. I've always found 30p/£25 play much, much better than 25p/£25 machines.
Of course your credit will whittle away in no-time, and I can see a lot more note-changer activity and 'bigger losses' but if you know what you're doing, it shouldn't be too bad.
Also, the increase of the JP to £35 must mean that the manus will have to introduce new features (not necessarily in the 'collect that feature' type), but new ideas etc to their games. You can't have the standard 12-part cash trail really anymore that goes £1.00, £1.20 ... ... £10.00, £35.00.
For me, it makes life interesting to change things like this, and if it does turn out to be poor, I'll just not play 'em...

Er, the stake is going to be 50p, so that's £1 for a round number.

I would hazard a guess that this will lead to a lot of multi-line machines, 10p a line (the three straights and two diagonals).
The machines are still going to be paying out the same %, so with a higher stake, it'll take less games to get to the good stuff. Or, if it takes more cash to get to the streak, the streak will be bigger, or happen more often. Proportianally, we'll still get the same amount out.

i agree in essence but there are external factors which you can't control: no matter how many steps ahead of the average punter you are. a lot of people consider 50 pence to be real money, and most people consider a pound coin to have a tangible value.
hence people who might have put the change from a round into a bandit might think twice about it if they kney they were only going to get (for the sake of argument) five spins for the change from a fiver for a pint. i for one would sooner have another pint than five presses of a button.
..... <--- those five cost me nothing and gave me no pleasure i'd be reluctant to spend £2.50 on tap tap tap tap tap..
i'm not typical of casual fruit players because i normally only play if someone is on my swp or bored or whatever.
basically what i'm saying is that a handful of change currently offers decentish value for money for people who are wholly trusting to luck and have no knowledge/method/familiarity on any given machine. (without these people none of you would still be playing AWP.) if the stake were hiked up to 50p i predict you would see a decline in mug punters filling up the machines for you.
just my thoughts, conversely i lobby for a raised stake availablity on SWP but that is a different kettle of fish.

Swings and roundabouts though. You may well win more, but the losses are going to be much heavier on the pocket. They are just pricing people out of the market. It'll only be the hardcore left at this rate! No munters for filling them up!
