found my bank card money all nice and safe

I've got an oblong shaped accessory, fashioned out of leather, that has compartments which are of the correct dimensions to store both cards and paper money. I find it really useful.

Its called a wallet.....

You're not going to like this reply, but when I go away I put my money in my wallet which goes in my pocket.

I assume you're talking about long road trips, so you have a back up sock full of cash? What do you do with your foot? Do you have two feet in one shoe and another shoe with a cash filled sock connected to a prosthetic attachment that links to your hip? Is that the arrangement?

Also the bank will void your lost card and reissue a new one free of charge. In the absence of a card, I bury my money around Britain's motorway service station network. I have about 25k buried in a shrubbery in Newport Pagnell and a further 4k in a flowerpot situated in the lobby of Magor services. I don't want to disclose all the details, but the cash varies. I like Charnock Richard services, so I had £50k and a pneumatic drill(*) put under the tarmac for emergencies, I find Knutsford a bit of a hole, so I've got 20p buried somewhere on the sidelines of Old Trafford.


(*) D'oh realised I should have left the drill ABOVE the tarmac, not buried underneath. Oh well, better find that pickaxe I left in the pick 'n mix in the one stop super services shopper at Taunton Dean.

oh right sorry for asking a qs was just wondering thats all as i dont like carrying wallets etc as when i lost my bank card if it was in a wallet with money well would of lost the lot

despite any length of road trip ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, the normal one's amongst us carry for example a cpl of hundred in coins , a cpl of hundred in notes + a cash card ,

Fair comment, I usually put coins in either truprint bags or if i'm doing particularly well I'll just chuck it all into a pillow case

gmckee raises a fair question ,,,,,,,, how much money do you feel safe leaving at home ,

even with your best hiding place ,,,,,,,, i mean i know most of us have lots of other valuable's at home ,,,,, electrical's etc ,,,,,,, but am i right in thinking that your contents insurance doesn't cover cash ? i know mine doesn't ,

suppose other factors come into play , like for those of us with abodes where maybe a family member is usually in all day watching the place etc.

i personally dont like more than a grand in cash in the flat at any time.

Even if it did cover cash, you would have to have proof that you had it (as you would need reciepts for any possesions stolen). I don't think they would believe 'I won 48k on fruit machines'.

I'm with you Trayhop. No more than a grand at home if it can be helped.
