WTF!!!!!
Having just read this entire post and assorted replies, it does surprise me how few genuine replies there are. It would appear to be an even more disturbing trend where "players" - I use the term loosely as toolers are not players - are now doing their best to get other people barred from pubs.
In my opinion this is the lowest of the low - not only are these brainles morons stealing from the leisure companies, they are also trying to tarnish the image of genuine players. In my "career" I have been barred from 3 pubs; once when I was caught keying thanks to MIDAS (after a previous machine - Barcrest Master Blaster - had been an absolute goldmine, so I was on top); once where the landlady played the machines herself and once from a scummy little local pub where - and i quote - "You must be an engineer and you have the empty codes!". Now, I don't have a problem with a landlord - especially in a smaller pub - deciding they would rather their regulars had a fair crack rather than me taking every bit of the percentage; but I do think it is bang out of order for another player to attempt to get people barred.
There has always been an issue with unscrupulous types doing fully illeagal stuff to machines - a problem that has grown eponentially with the introduction of notechangers. I feel the leisure company needs to get it's backside in gear and sort out this problem - even if it means the end of notechangers. Another issue is the penalties imposed. How many toolers have been convicted - and whats the sentence? 20 hours community service? If it was two years jail, and the companies were more pro-active in catching these wonderful citizens - then maybe the genuine players might get an easier ride.
It is not a crime - as far as I know - to know how to play a fruit machine to maximise profit; in fact given the government's current stance on gambling; surely maximising profit, minimising loss is something all genuine gamblers (even successful machine players) should be encouraged to achieve.
